My 2001 Ford Ranger did very well with it, so I'm not sure. There may be videos on You Tube showing how to install one on a 1999 if you look for them. The video I viewed how to install the one I bought was on YouTube. On the back of the package, which I kept, it says it is for various Ford Models 2004 to present. I purchased Dorman Help 83244 (shift indicator bracket) and it says various Ford Models 2004 to present. DormanProducts is another place that you can look online for products. You can contact a dealer and ask them to confirm this fits the Even if you don't have any luck with it, it's still worth buying one. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives available, but the part I bought was excellent and cost me less than $1. Also, it works well. The entire process took about 35 minutes It takes 40 minutes to install the system.
You can use this unit on a lot of different Fords I went to a junk yard and all of them were pretty much the same, all broke in the same place if you look under the dash, you should see your old one, you should be able to match it
I guess so, but look under the steering column, you should be able to see it there, look under the dash
You can count on it. The darn thing was used in almost all of Ford's older vehicles. The Ford dealership offered to sell me a "parts assembly" for The amount is Although 95 cents for a 35 cent part is still a ripoff, the process is significantly less painful than that of Ford's.

In 1997, I had a problem with the gear indicator on my Ford F150 Lariat. It was discovered that the small plastic bracket that holds the steering cable and adjustment wheel was broken - it is attached to the steering assembly under the dash. Photos can be viewed here. The bracket is accessible without removing any trim panels, so the repair can be carried out without any trimming panels being removed. If you lie on your back while bending over, all you need is a 7/32" socket wrench and the ability to contort yourself to get your hands under the dash. Additionally, it would be nice to have an assistant hold the light. To illustrate where it broke, I nipped the hole in one end with a hot-push Reattach the bracket to the metal post that it was attached to by gluing it back together Photos can be viewed here. There is evidence that the bracket broke away from the 7/32" mounting bolt (not shown) as you can see by the cracks. My experience with this bracket is that I attached it to the end of the cable by inserting the wheel between the two plastic prongs and threading the control cable through the wheel as I slid It's now time for the hard part By slipping the loop on the end of the cable wire over the metal hook from the gear shift mechanism, the cable wire will not tangle.
NOTE For you to see and reach this metal hook, you must engage 1st gear with your gear shift lever. By feel alone, I was able to position the end of the loop along the outside edge of the hook, then, by pushing two fingers up and over the hook, push the end of the loop up and through. After that, I positioned the bracket over the mounting hole and secured it with the 7/32" hex bolt. Photos can be viewed here. I had to turn the adjustment wheel just a couple of times to align the pointer of my gear indicator with the letters under it, as shown in the attached picture. It was an easy fix that cost $12, but it was fairly simple. The cost of a piece of 10* injected metal is 29 The plastic mold is made from The bracket will be removed, and I will reinforce the weak points with JBWeld KwikWeld that way I will not have to do it again. Should you need to replace the bracket in your truck, you might think about doing something similar.
It was a snap to get this part working. I removed the 2 panels, installed it, rewired the wire to the shift lever, and adjusted the thumb screw to adjust Return the panels to their original positions. Time spent on this task 15 minutes. If you want to save time, you can find several YouTube videos that will show you how to accomplish the task. Just click on one that is no longer than five minutes long and read through The following are the ratings I used 7, 8, and 9 To reattach the cable, you will need a 9 mm socket and needle nose pliers.
It is made of cheap little plastic. A cheap, little plastic part seems to be a perfect fit. It holds the cable nicely. I can't understand why the recommendation on the Amazon car parts page indicated that it wasn't the right part for my There needs to be a check on My 1997 Ford Ranger 4's is now using this one in place of the old one. It has a V6 engine. I have included a picture of the old and the new original (lasted 19 years). The mounting bracket of my 1995 Ford Explorer PRNDL had broken, which is frequently the case when they start to This product is not for this model year, according to its specifications. In fact, many of the newer items do fit, but they simply do not state that they will for the older models. To avoid having to replace the entire assembly, I decided to give it a shot. While this one worked on my 95 Explorer, I can understand why it's not listed as being made for today's operating system. A cable and adjustment tube will be pointed roughly 30 degrees from the cable attachment bracket based on the geometry of the unit. As a result, the thin copper wire coming out of the cable tube will feed against the tube at its exit point and may, over time, It is my intention to replace the existing unit by then with one that matches exactly. In some cases, you can adjust the unit by swiveling the mounting screw a little bit for better alignment, but the problem would persist. As far as I can tell, this item worked on my 95 Explorer flawlessly.
Very easy to install and this fits perfectly on my Ford 2003 F150. The hardest part was taking off the bottom dash panel, which took about 10 minutes in total. If you have a headlamp and are able to place your head on the brake pedal, you can do this from underneath.
Fixing the problem with this part is a sure thing. Easy to install, but not so simple to use. The cable needed to be stabilized, so I had to be patient and asked for help. Using another string, I tied it so that it would not retract inward. It has happened that I have doubted myself a few times thinking I am installing it incorrectly.
A pair of needlenose pliers, a 1/4" ratchet, light, and other tools Keep your cool. The design of Ford's cars is built for obsolescence, and it should be ashamed of that.
I had no issues at all with it working and fitting. My guess is that it cost a lot of money. It costs them 50 cents to make, but they sell it for $11. I don't know what the issue was, but it was resolved. As long as the price is right, I hope it will last a long time.
