It is contingent on the ratio you purchase. If you buy a stock with a lower ratio, such as 4:1, you will have a better chance of making a profit. With larger tires and the stock gear ratio, you will have a lot more power than with smaller tires. However, depending on tire size, higher RPMs at highway speeds are a trade-off. The only issue I had with the gear and pinion was that it would have forced my suburban to drive in high gear all of the time, which was not what I wanted.
