Update**
I had the diff set up with Ford performance gears, and we used the same bearings as before, and WOW, this thing is awesome! Quiet and smooth. Who'd have guessed that Ford gear would be housed in a Ford housing? br>The Motive gears make more noise than a rusted-out hydrostatic tractor. They are 4: whine on acceleration and deceleration Still, it's in the tens. br>And, before you say anything, I've been very careful with them, running them through multiple short slow heat cycles and having them set up by a veteran driveline tech with over 30 years of experience. I haven't done any hard pulls or high-speed driving on them yet, in fact. Motive was suggested by the shop, and he said they were easy to set up but noisy. After I expressed my concerns, he checked them after 75 miles. He claims they pattern perfectly. br>It's either the material or the machining process Motive employs. br>I spent a lot of money on this so that I could listen to my gears in my sweet Hotrod. I guess I'll just have to keep the top down and enjoy the breeze. When purchasing your next set of gear, do some research.
This (4. ) was paired with 30) gear set in my 03 Mach 1 with a Ford install kit and a Ford lsd rebuild with royal purple 75w90 and Friction modifier, and it runs quietly. The gear set is incredibly smooth, and the installation went off without a hitch.
This is an 8 RWD vehicle. In 2014, F150 8 was installed. If you don't have a notched crosspin, you'll have to grind on the gear teeth to get your crosspin back in. 8 RWD, this gear is THICK; you'll need a notched crosspin; if you don't have a notched crosspin, you'll have to grind on the gear teeth to get your crosspin back in.
Setup is simple.
They are, however, in. It's been a while since I've had them. But they're in a spooled rear with chromoly shafts and 35's, and they haven't yet broken.
A well-known local mustang shop installed these for me. On deceleration, they whine a lot, and the guy had all the settings dialed in perfectly on them. Ford gears are the way to go!.
For the set pin, I needed to grind one tooth.
