For these rears, there are two different seals. Six of the older eight rear seals have a lip. The lip that seals flat in cars and other vehicles is number five.

my gm 8 does not fit This isn't going to work with my 99 gm 8

5. I'm not sure why, and neither did Allstar when I called for help; it's not the seal's od, but my pinion's id, which is too large for this seal.
