Well, many of us 997 owners are victims to bad climate control switches (default switches which don't seem to be working properly immediately afterward), and there hasn't historically been an affordable replacement option. Using decals on worn switches was an impractical solution. At last, aftermarket products have begun to make their appearance on the scene as reliable switches that are pretty easy to set up and pass quality assurance tests. It took me almost a week to install these switches. My experience with mechanical engineering and car restoration makes me the ideal person to tackle the process alone. It took me some time to familiarize myself with the steps that were required, even though I studied YouTube tutorial videos. Removing the climate module from console stacks isn't difficult. Unlike the case with a T6 driver, it is pretty easy to disassemble the module. The removal of the old switches and installation of new ones was difficult and it took patience to complete. The whole process took about an hour and I did it very carefully. These switches were fantastic, and I highly recommend them. Pro tip: Rather than DIY, you can get your module and new switch from a car stereo store if you are uncomfortable.
The temperature and fan switches are identical to the rest of the buttons. Icing button sticks and worn switches will no longer hold power. Used in my 2006 Boxster looks factory fresh. Take a look at the pictures before and after to see what a difference this makes. As for the installation video, the seller PCar Auto needs at least a five-star rating. This guide covered every step of the process in detail, and contained instructions on how to avoid making mistakes at every step. Finding Torx driver bit inside my Husky precision screwdriver set took some searching for the length of Torx's bit. There are a number of sets which include the T10 and T20 models. The Bose subwoofer is also not included in the 987; the sub is located somewhere else in the box, so the cover does not need to be removed. This was really a 5 star video thanks to great quality for the price and its highly innovative editing.
A great deal will depend on where you take your mechanic to for the fix. I was actually told by the Porsche dealership that my old car needed to be rebuilt. In this YouTube video, we are shown how to do an easy-to-follow DIY project. If you follow our guide, you can eliminate this annoying look in 30 minutes. You can find it on Amazon for only $40 or so. One only a single instance that doesn't have any of these switches flakes off I have to say. Has Porsche not gone toe to toe with IMS bearing once in a while?.
In place of damaged factory junk switches, these work great and make an excellent improvement to the product. But I'll be interested to see how they fare over time, and on the other hand, I think they are of really high quality and a nice upgrade from OEM rubber.
Having watched all the installation videos, I was hesitant to even attempt this. However, I decided to pull the trigger instead because of how nasty my buttons felt. To avoid spending all of my money on plastic, I chose these. Watching the video, I decided to install the file quickly and smoothly. I love the way these look and can see how easy they are to use.
They were simple and efficient to use. Aside from using #140" to Rx bit, a #6 will also be needed as well. YouTube videos can be found showing you what it's like to do this. Easy, you can keep going for weeks.
Detailed instructions are easy to follow and are presented well. The T6 screwdriver and a small flat head are all that is required. Buying would happen again if I ever have another Porsche with the same issue as my current one.
I had to adjust the first temp slightly, but the second was perfect from start to finish. I absolutely loved the product.
