The starter was purchased 7 years ago, and I used it on 5 different engines that I drove every single day during that time. Among the engines were a 1978 305 with low compression and an 11 with high compression. I am 25. With the 1 327 and the 10, you have The number of individuals is 1. 383. Even when the battery voltage was very low, the starter performed flawlessly. As the mounting layout could be adjusted to three different exhaust/flywheel combinations, it was ideal for all three. During a 1860 mile road trip, it even prevented me from blowing a clutch line at 1 AM in the projects of Memphis, TN when my 5 speed Camaro blew the clutch line at 1 AM. For me to get back to the highway, I had to start the car in second gear. Despite the engine being big (a 454 big block), this starter had enough torque to push the whole car forward. For me to get out of the city and ultimately back home, I had to do this 5 times. There was no sign of the plant for two more years after that, so what finally did it in? A monsoon storm caused the overpass to almost stall causing me to drive through a small lake that I didn't see when I was driving through an intersection. Almost the entire car was submerged, knocking all the grease out of the starter bearings and resulting in their death. They offered to rebuild the starter for a small fee if I just paid for the That's what I did, and I bought another. It is clear that a cheap 100 dollar Chinese starter won't last as long or be as durable and strong as this American-made model. Your hot rod will NEVER have a problem with starters again if you purchase one starter for it.
The starter I had to check was the first starter I had ever checked as well! I had to use all the shims to get the clearance that I needed to check it. The other reviews say that this starter will last a very long time, as I used to replace my starter almost every year because the brushes would burn up in them and it would not want to start. Immediately fired it up after setting it up, turning it over, and bolting it up! I can't believe how little cranking there is!.
The product is great.
The operation is smooth and quiet. This is the second starter item of this brand and type that I have purchased. Since I had a great experience with my first build, I'd rather not go any other way for this build.
You cannot go wrong with this bad boy.
By far, it is the best starting device I have ever owned I have it on my 383 starter, and it is rated a 9. There is no way to treat 1 compression engine like I have never seen a better mini starter.
I couldn't get it to fit on 396 like it should.
