As a replacement for the stock B-type starter on my 1996 Impala SS, I installed this starter A good body starter is necessary. A starter such as this can physically be installed into ANY LT1, but modifications to exhaust/plumbing/electrical systems may be required. In my case, I found that I didn't need to modify the application in any way. My original starter remains intact even though I used the stock hardware. There are a few slight modifications made to this starter, but it works flawlessly, appears to be of high quality, sounds slightly different (more of a gear whine), is more compact, and costs slightly less than a high quality.
Taking place in China, it's remanufactured. My 3rd gen Camaro had worn out the old style starter so I bought this to replace it. The replacement is an exact match for my 96 LT4 and is not difficult to install. Having my car start right away is so much more convenient than having to press the starter five, ten, or fifteen times.
