How does this system differ from most cheap body lifts? Do these replace the stock body mounts or mount on top of them?

The mounts are to replace the stock ones, not to be used as a lift.

Are these body mounts intended to replace the stock ones?

Those who need replacement body mounts for Jeep TJ and LJ from 97-2004 should look at the KJ04008BK The replacement mounts do not add any height to the body they simply replace the stock ones. Replacement mounts replace the originals, however one needs to reuse the original steel components.

How is the kit colored? Is it orange or black? Have I seen it displayed in bright orange somewhere else on the web?

There is no right or wrong answer to this question.

Come with the metal bushings in the center of the hole where the bolt goes as well?

Do not fit very well, had to ream out the mounts to get them to fit, had to expend a great deal of extra effort that I should not have had to.

Kit is very good, it is a perfect mix of performance and comfort. Did not change the ride height in the slightest. It was easy to install, as long as I honed a little bit out of the 2 A pillar mount holes. There are two bump stops on the front that are not shown in the photos, instructions or description.

The quality was not as good as I had expected but I used them with a body lift that I already had. As far as I can tell, they do their job well. My only issue is that I find the material to be a bit too.
