In case you have already read the reviews and still wonder if this product might be a good investment, you need to stop right there. It is best to buy My 2 day Prime shipping means I can get it in 2 days. Package instructions are very clear for replacing the component, and package instructions are straight forward. If you want to replace the clips, you just need a flat screwdriver and a rubber mallet or extra shoe (mine are original from 2000 and are pretty stuck on). The screws are pretty simple to replace with just a flat screwdriver. According to all I took about 10 minutes to complete the installation. After removing the old gates, I spent 8 minutes figuring out how to hold the new ones up once I had removed the old ones (it is rather heavy, and you must be VERY careful not to let the glass As I installed the new supports, I put a chair behind the bumper, put one foot on the bumper and one on the chair, and used my back to hold the gate. When you install these struts, the gate will lift much higher than stock, so you might want to spend a few minutes in setup considering how you are going to support it (a friend would be the easiest option). In my opinion, the actual installation of the struts could probably be done in less than a minute if you asked a friend to hold the gate during the process. Using a screwdriver, you just need to gently lift a retainer, and then you can put these struts in place. In the end, the result is quite nice. You actually make your rear cargo area a lot more usable because of the ease of loading (a forklift could be used once these are installed). I use this gate frequently because it is smooth to operate and secure to close. There are no more cold mornings when you will be unable to load up because the gate won't stay open. It has been suggested that if you are shorter you may want to consider a rope pull for closings. Unlike the lady in the State Insurance commercial jumping for a quarter at the end of the fishing line, my wife is 5'0" tall and looks like the lady in the commercial with the oops. It was almost ours". As a whole. The product is great at a great price, has a great installation process, and delivers For all Excursions enthusiasts, this update is a must-have.
You should do it. I was amazed at the quality of these things. It was the easiest, most efficient, and best ROI upgrade that I have ever made to Well, I'm 6'6" and I bang my head on things a lot, but the tailgate on my new vehicle caused me pain because it was angled to the right It seemed absurd to me that Excursion was so inexpensive. There was only one thing about the new tow rig I hated, and what I hated was that item. Some surf online led to discussions about replacing the struts. I wasn't sure if it was going to make a difference, but since it was only going to cost a few hundred dollars, why not? There is a difference between night and day. Although I can't reach the tailgate or doorways, the tailgate isn't way over my head either. In contrast, if you've ever been frustrated with the low height of the factory struts, these things will blow you away. The rear door of the trailer will now open more quickly than it is It is true that the tailgate will bump the ceiling if you park inside and the ceiling is low. It is necessary to add an additional pull strap if you are shorter than average. It is amazing how much better these struts perform over factory ones, and they are the length that the factory SHOULD have already installed. It would be so easy to make the roof rack functional if it was only that simple! The next tip I found when I was looking around my garage was an old Optical Disc player The beam level must be zero The distance was probably four feet, it might have been three feet For my Ex, it fit just right between the bumper and a spot on the tailgate, and held it in place I was able to install the replacement in a matter of minutes. If you have more than two hands, or you're of normal height, or not freakishly tall, you probably need to cut off both ends of the struts with a screwdriver, then replace one with the new one, then the other. Your mileage will likely vary. The change is more apparent if you step back and take a moment to appreciate it. It might be worth your time to think about it if you're kinda sorta considering It's an easy thing to do. I am doing this right Purchase by clicking the Buy button. Your heart will be filled with joy.
It fits my 3L bottles perfectly, and the extra 2" opening allows me to store a bit more. Although I installed them by myself using a 4' piece of wood. As the hatchback is heavy and difficult to manoeuvre with just one person, it might be best to have two.
In less than 5 minutes, I had these swapped Thanks to the added height, I am now assured that I will not hit my head on the window (6ft2in) as I would in a 4x4 house. It was during temperatures of the 30s when they were installed, and they were very stiff during that time as well. Here's the update Despite their age of over a year and a half now, they are still as strong as they were on the day when they were originally.
There were a lot of 90-year-olds there Today it is 95 degrees, but right now with the heat it feels Tall people will have no problem entering the back of the van. A tall child must be at least 5'2" to reach it! Because of the higher lift, you have to remove both existing ones before a new one will be installed. An 8x8 kept the hatch in place with two 2x4s from the ground. There was a time when the hatch slammed shut when I changed these and it would shatter the entire back glass if I dropped it.
The length is too long by two inches. It then occurred to me that I needed to remove both the old shocks from the support bar, and that the lift gate was now able to lift more. My lift, which used to hit my head on when it was fully opened, now rises about a foot above my head after I installed these. It feels to me like these support shocks are even stronger than the old ones. While I am not certain how long they will last, they seem to be working well for now.
