Questions & Answers

Is there any information about how to put this together?

Yes, the instructions are included in the kit. Before purchasing, I would recommend that you read the instructions on the Hellwig website. It's simple, but you'll need tools to remove the spring pack from the axle and insert this spring.

Does the kit come with two springs?

Yes, the kit includes a two-wheeled assist spring.

Is it compatible with a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado?

On a 2006 Toyota Tundra, I installed this helper. It should work if you're using the same mounting system.

Is this going to fit a 2017 Toyota Tundra?

Yes, I believe so. There are a lot of things that are universal.

Airbags are more expensive and require more maintenance
5/5

Following the loading of a 1200 pound pop-up tent, When I hit a bump in the road, my 2001 Tundra would bottom out. These helper springs came to a halt and tightened all the way up, raising the rear end over an inch and bringing it nearly level with the front. I considered air bags before, but since I plan to keep the camper on for the majority of the time, I didn t want the much higher maintenance and potential failures that% My truck, which also has a Hellwig sway bar, drives almost as if the camper isn't there, and I have to constantly remind myself to 'take it easy. ' Thank you, Hellwig, for another fantastic product.

It Was Money Well Spent! I had it installed on my 96 F-150
5/5

Gravel, sand, bricks, top soil, and just about anything up to a TON are loaded into a 150 XLT weekend truck. I could feel the truck bottoming out with a ton of load without the Hellwig, but after that, the struts only have about HALF of the bounce to work out. Driving without it was TERRIFY because the truck swayed a little at 45 MPH. After? I drove it at 60 miles per hour with a ton of bricks in the back, steering the truck as if there was no load! Of course, the ride is a little more STRONG, but that's not a problem for me because the truck isn't particularly comfortable to begin with. I can't complain for $130 and change because it does exactly what it's supposed to do: assist. From start to finish, the installation took about an hour, including searching for missing sockets and tools.

On a 2006 Tundra SR5 DC 4WD TRD, this repair eliminates bed drop and body roll
5/5

On a 2006 Toyota Tundra SR5 Doublecab V8 4WD TRD, this kit was installed. This product eliminated the problem of loaded bed drop as well as body roll. It's not so stiff that it makes the ride uncomfortable when it's not loaded, but it does eliminate the sway around curves and bumps. When I loaded 2000 pounds of 12' lumber into the truck bed, the gate dropped almost 8 inches, from 34" unloaded to 26 1/4" loaded. I figured I'd take care of the drop first, and if it solved the sway issue, that'd be great- I'd put it in if it wasn't already installed.

I found it to be the best deal I could find
5/5

Immediate improvement with a simple installation!   On my 1996 GMC Sierra ext Cab with the 5. 9L engine, I installed this. When I move, I'm going to set it to 0 to get it ready for some heavy towing. I'll be hauling around 1000 pounds in the bed and a 3300-pound trailer, so I'll be putting a lot of strain on this 20-year-old K1500. br>br>So, the packaging was excellent, and prime shipping took two days, not to mention that it was the cheapest price I could find on Amazon, at under 90 dollars, so it was a great deal. br>br>It was a breeze to set up. Getting rid of my factory axle u bolts (which I had to grind out) was the most difficult part. Aside from that, I simply installed the 991s, long side to the back, clamped them to the axle, raised my vehicle by the frame, and u-shaped them. I bolted them to the leaf springs and torqued them to the same degree as possible.

I got about a 3/4" lift unloaded at my current torque (maybe 75% of max spring load)
I got about a 3/4" lift unloaded at my current% I immediately noticed a difference in the suspension, and I'm going to upload a video to demonstrate the before and after. The difference in body roll is enormous. When compared to stock, you can see how well the truck stays level. br>br>If you need to push your vehicle to its limits, I highly recommend this product. Without spending hundreds of dollars on a load leveling hitch or new leaf springs, you can improve the ride and stability of your work truck for only $85! I got a perfect score of five out of five. After my 800-mile journey, I'll post an update.

That's Exactly What My Truck Needed! To begin, I put it on a 2003 Toyota Tundra Access Cab RWD
5/5

Using a 3/8 impact wrench, it took me 45 minutes to complete. Make sure the shorter end of the helper spring is installed towards the front so it clears the plastic rivet holding the factory springs together when installing it. Each end has a different length and distance from the center. The length is 18 1/2" on one end and 21" on the other. Now that that's out of the way, I'll say that this helper spring greatly improved the ride and handling of my truck, as well as lifting the rear nearly an inch at maximum tension and leveling out my truck, which had a 2" lift up front. I wouldn't say it rides on rails, but it corners better, has a stiffer but still soft rear end, and reduces wheel hop. In terms of aesthetics and ride quality, the spring did everything I wanted or needed, but I haven't yet tested the payload capabilities. Overall, it was a wise investment of $110.

If you're willing to cut through some plastic rivets on the springs, it'll work fine on a 2006 Toyota Tundra DC V8 4x4
4/5

On my 2006 Tundra Double Cab 4, it was simple to install. Truck with a 7L V8 engine and 4x4 capability. With the 2001 Four Wheel Camper Hawk in the back (weighing about 850 pounds fully loaded), it did level out my truck in the back. My only gripe is that the new U-shaped design isn't as appealing as the old one. The plastic assembly rivets under the fore and aft positions of each leaf spring are interfered with by the bolt bottom brackets. It was supposed to be a perfect fit for this truck, but I had to cut the bottoms off the plastic knobs with a hacksaw. I was not surprised because I had read about similar problems with other installations in the same situation. However, it's a little strange that this design flaw has yet to be addressed. This system has one advantage: Simply remove the front and rear u-bolts to disengage it. bolts into the glove compartment, leaving the leaf on the axle and under the bump stop in place. When you're driving around without a heavy load, the unengaged leaf just sits there. There's plenty of room on the truck, and the spring doesn't get in the way. When there isn't a load in the bed, you won't be bouncing around as stiffly. And the reinstallation is straightforward, requiring only two wrenches and approximately 20 minutes for both sides.
