This product was used to correct my car's alignment. Basically, I put the car on an alignment rack to get measurements and shim specifications. Using the template as a guide, cut the shim and compare it to the mating surface of the car hub. I drew a line through any additional spots that I needed to get rid of. re- after it was installed and re-installed Alignment and rear alignment were both in specs, and the results were almost identical to the actual predictions. It's just a lot of work, but it's well worth it when the alignments are spot on. I would strongly advise anyone seeking to correct their rear alignment to use this service. It's much easier to have an alignment machine do all of the guesswork on what numbers need to be lined up than it is to try to figure it out yourself.
The rigid rear carrier on a 2010 Matrix was found to be WAY out of alignment (and non-functional) on dealer alignment. I knew exactly what orientation these needed to be because they were adjustable (STUPID STUPID STUPID), so I didn't have to calculate anything. The hub geometry, on the other hand, was NOTHING like what was described in the instructions. Because I had to cut so much of the shim away, I had to use contact adhesive and longer screws to join the halves for installation. But there were no problems with the brake calipers. The Hunter shim recommendation (Delco number) reverses the upper and lower numbers, but it doesn't matter as long as the two numbers are aligned and the installation is vertical AT ROAD HEIGHT, according to the instructions. The angle changes when you jack up the vehicle, which is probably why some people have issues with them. In any case, alignment is exactly what I was looking for at this point.
Adjustment shims are a great way to fix rear alignment issues with torsion beam axle alignment issues. I've been using them on VW/Audi for years and they've saved a lot of people money and time by not having to replace axle assemblies. I wish the plastic was more durable and easier to cut/break off as needed, because the shim can be easily broken in half with little effort.
If the need arises, I will purchase again.
Despite the fact that it was not required, it appeared to be of good quality. will be kept for future use.
You risk snapping them in half if you use a wire cutter that is too large. Due to a similar blunder on my part, I had to order a second set.
Although the installation has yet to be completed, I am satisfied with the other aspects of the purchase. The cost and speed of delivery were excellent.
In less than thirty minutes, it was installed on the back wheel. Setup and installation are simple.
