Questions & Answers

There is a part number 4 on this. Do I need the red bushing kit or the black bushing kit for the 2140 g? No information is provided on the energy suspension website to allow one to determine the color of a bushing. Is that okay?

There are two bushing sets in black, 2140 g and 2140 b. Item 4. Red bushing sets are part of the 2140 r model.

Is it true that these fit without the bushing sleeve on the front? The ones in my sleeves are sloppy, and removing them would make them worse. ?

The 3 Diesel is equipped with molded shackle bushings. In order to properly replace rear springs and shackles, I strongly recommend you check the type of bushings installed on the truck before committing to any replacement work. The kit provides the molded type bushing for the shackle, which does not have a metal sleeve around it and is suitable for shackle eyes without metal sleeves. On trucks with the common style (with the metal sleeve), the other kit that were required to replace both rear springs and the shackle, as well as In addition, you can use two small tubes of lubricant to coat all the metal surfaces that make contact with Make sure you don't overdo it on the lubricant, because a little goes a long way.

After I replaced these 17 year old bushings on my truck, I noticed a difference in the ride. There was an impression that the truck was straighter in some ways. I've noticed a little more bounce in the rear now, but this time I know that my loads aren't getting an extra little shake here and there from the old bushings allowing the springs to touch As far as driving is concerned, it has greatly improved. There's just no longer that thought in the back of my head where I feel my rear end clanging and swishing. Using a foot-long thread, washers and nuts along with a deep well socket of the appropriate size (that fits the sleeve, but still passes through the eye), a piece of metal pipe just bigger than the eye hole, In this method, the sleeve and bushing are both removed at the same time and there is no need for the mess associated with other methods. The 9/16" all-metal tube should be used in place of the 3/4" If you plan to use a socket fitted with a 1/2" ratchet, the impact socket hole will be needed to be bored out.

Bushings (the big ones) are fine, but the bolt sleeves have a problem in the front. Despite my best efforts, the inside diameter of the sleeve was too small for the bolt. I drilled my own I also spent a lot of time trying to figure out why I couldn't get the bolts to go in. Besides that, the kit is fine. But the problem caused a lot of unnecessary faffing around.
