Questions & Answers

There is any similar product available for the front of a van like this?

They do not have to settle for heavy duty gas shocks on my Astro van

Does this price include a pair of shocks or just one?

Please note that this is a pair and not by the piece!

Do the boxes include any mounting hardware?

There are only two shocks provided, no mounting hardware. There are some parts that you may be able to reuse at a local hardware store, I was able to obtain replacement hardware there. It is important to note that these bolts are hardened. Using common hardware is not recommended.

Would you mind telling me how much a pair of (2) shocks costs?

Originally, the 58598 came in a pair from the manufacturer. The item will be sold as a pair, unless otherwise specified by the retailer.

This is a must-have for every ASTRO VAN! Whenever I load the zero turn on my trailer, I tow it much better
5/5

A much better option than a sway bar, since it costs less and is much simpler. I took the first photo the day before shock replacement, and the second photo just minutes later after shock replacement! After spending 30 minutes with each of them, it was well worth it.

Enhanced ride quality with weight on the back of the vehicle
5/5

My wife and I went into a 98 Astro 2WD. With the tools and materials in the back, especially the gas air compressor, my old family van became a lighter duty work vehicle. However, the rear end would sag after repurposing it as a work van. My usual method of choosing shock absorbers was to buy cheap ones, but this time I decided to invest in something adequate to the job. In this area, these shocks have served well. Currently, the van no longer sways and wiggles around turns and bumps as it did when it first arrived. Compared to earlier versions, it feels much more stable now. The work partner said that it used to feel like he was riding on a boat before, but it's a lot more comfortable now. It is highly recommended that every Astro owner is equipped with these shocks.

Thank you! I am extremely pleased with them
5/5

I was not paying for labor on this set of shocks that was exactly the same model, brand, strength, etc. as one of the product sets one mechanic wanted installed at almost triple the cost for just these shocks. There is another mechanic willing to install parts we send and we pay him his going rate for labor plus a tip when he installs our parts- he does so at no cost to us It saved me a great deal of money! A sturdy package was used due to the weight of the goods by Tenneco to deliver the goods. The product and company are great and I would definitely do business with them A sagging shock was found on the rear of a van with an Astro engine- Even when loaded, these did not only bring the height up again, but they added on a little as well. They were great to work with!.

You need to help your sagging rear end
5/5

As these springs are made, there are few options to lift a sagging rearend when using them on the Astro. enormous springs may appear massive when unboxed, but they offer the perfect amount of stiffness for a level ride, and when hooked to a trailer the progressive rate keeps it from sagging significantly.

Thanks a lot! Very happy with my purchase
4/5

As a result, I was concerned that the Monroe shocks would be weaker than those I installed on the It was a fairly easy installation, so I'm no longer worried. In the end, I walked on the rear bumper of my 1994 Chevy Astro after the installation (I weigh about the same as my 2016 KTM EXC 500 that I carry on a bumper carrier), and was pleasantly surprised by its performance. In my case, my van only fell by about an inch. The weight is 240 pounds with a 3" nut. It's a great ride when it's empty, nice and smooth, but still Happy to have found you!.

Better traction and handling for a lot less money than the stock wheels
5/5

I bought them as part of Warehouse Deal For less than 00 for a pair, they were NEW without a scratch. Shipping was fast, and there is a huge difference as to how these grip the ground, doesn't sway or rub, and have some traction as well. I have rebuilt and driven Chevys and Astros for over 40 years, and these shocks have held up fairly well. A rear disk conversion is a nice addition as well in 2002 and older cars, as they stop much better with an adjustable rear brake line.

I found that it worked better than I had My 1997 Astro/Safari conversion van is equipped with these
5/5

Because I have just added the "high top" as well as interior wood trim, the rear of my van is much heavier than the stock rear wheel drive As soon as I loaded 6 adults and some luggage, I was unable to drive the van. I bought the van used and the rear has always sagged. Depending on the complexity of the installation, installation takes around an hour. As to ride height, I would say that it is restored to what it was on a stock Astro/Safari when it was My ride and handling have greatly improved, and I am no longer suffering from bottoming out while hauling stuff. They added 2000 pounds of extra load capacity, so I would HIGHLY recommend them for either towing or for regular loading vans and especially for conversion vans!.

As I drove around for the past few days, I noticed a noticeable improvement in its handling and braking
5/5

When it comes to Monroe shocks, you won't be disappointed. It has been a couple months since I installed these load adjusting shocks on my '05 Chevy Astro and they really have improved it. Over the past few months, I have noticed that the car handles and brakes much better. After months and months of building it, I finally got to pull a trailer with it today. Immediately, I noticed that I had to raise the trailer coupler higher than I did before in order to position it over the ball of the trailer. In the past, I only received about two inches of clearance on the ground by pulling the trailer with maximum sagging. It is now almost impossible to notice any sagging at all, even under the heavy load that I had to pull If you plan on installing these load adjusters on the front end at the same time, install Monroe OE Spectrums. They work well with these devices.
