Questions & Answers

Is there anyone who can tell me the exact length and diameter of this horn?

18 1/2 L, 8" W, 4 1/2 in is the only measurement we have. The second trumpet appears to be approximately the same size as the first trumpet. 1 to 1. The shorter version is 5 inches shorter than the longer version. I hope that this information is useful. Lee carcoverkingdom, thank you.

Do I need to purchase anything else, such as wires or clamps, if I'm replacing an existing horn?

To connect the four wires that make up the horn assembly to the two wires that come out of your horn switch or button, you'll need connectors or 1/4" quick disconnects. The nylon heat shrink type would be my choice. They're available on Amazon, and NAPA also sells them. If you bring the horn to NAPA, they'll be able to assist you.

Will they be able to withstand the test of time?

I believe so because the horns are made of stainless steel and are designed to withstand the harsh conditions of boating. This assumes you aren't just going to turn them on and listen to them for a year. They, or any other horn, are not designed for that type of duty cycle, in my opinion.

Is it possible to alter the type of sound?

You can only make one change: whether or not to sound the horn. It's not really adjustable, but it's a lot of noise. It's a well-made horn made entirely of stainless steel.

Selected User Reviews For Wolo (125) The Dominator Stainless Steel Dual Trumpet Marine Horns - 12 Volt, Low and High Tone (125-12), Chrome

Proven: "Marine Use" is not permitted! On a 30' Bayliner Ciera, I installed the Model 125 Dominator Dual Trumpet Horn 5'6" above water line near the helm seat for one week, during which time the boat traveled less than one mile on the bay
3/5

The next time I went to see the boat, I checked the horn, and it sounded like it was drowning. When I removed the horn, I discovered that the two bulbs at the back of the horn were filled with water, which I assumed was due to rain. I spoke with Chris from Wolo, who refused to refund my money but agreed to repair it before the warranty period ended (90 days). br>Horn was repaired and returned to me with an "Important Warning Label" that completely contradicted the mounting instructions. In fact, if I installed them according to the warning label, the horn would be unacceptably loud in the United States. I can't use the Coast Guard on my boat because of this. I believe the product is not properly engineered for use on a boat or in close proximity to water, as "advertised"! br>Since Wolo has refused to return the money I paid, I've decided to reinstall the horn in accordance with Coast Guard regulations and wait to see what happens this time before writing my next review. br>Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my work!.

These horns, which I purchased to replace the original International horns that came with the truck 25 years ago, are excellent and look the part
5/5

They are dual-tone 12 volt electric horns that are used to clear the road ahead of you or to warn people who are distracted by their cell phones to pay attention to the road. They project very well down the road and have a great tone. They are even more attractive than the chrome plastic units available elsewhere. It was simple to wire, but I wish the included hardware was better designed to keep water out of the cab. I ended up using silicone to seal all of the junctions between the cab roof and the horn mounts, as well as the wiring. I used an old painted aluminum sign from the company that matched the color of the truck to cover the old holes in the cab roof. br>br>Excellent purchase; I would make another. Hopefully, they'll last a long time.

This is the most straightforward boat/train horn available
5/5

While I was compiling this list, I came across one that I thought was particularly interesting I bought this electric horn duo for a project that required a loud alarm, and now I want one for my truck! br>br>Our project necessitated a tight fit where an air compressor, as found in other train/boat horns, was not possible. This unit caught our eye because we wanted everything to be electric. The steel strength of this unit, as well as the double brackets, impressed us after we received it and opened it up. It will not move once it has been installed. We connected it to a 12V, 5A battery, assuming it would require much more amperage (like a car battery), but boy, were we wrong! This thing blew our eardrums out! It has a very low amperage draw, so it won't drain the power from your boat battery or whatever you connect it to. Any 12v vehicle battery will power it if it can run at 5 amps. br>br>As a comparison, I touched the wires to the terminals on the 850A battery in my truck. Yes, it was slightly louder than my 5 amp battery test, but it was equally as loud as any train horn you've ever heard. I can't imagine putting two of these on the same car. The silence would be deafening. br>br>Don't be fooled by the fact that this horn set is powered by electricity. Only that it isn't going to work. I'd even go so far as to compare it to an air-conditioning unit. I'm sure it would be a close call if you put a powered system of the same dimensions up against each other. br>br>These horns are quite long (each horn is over a foot long - Check the specifications for your installation (one is about 2" longer than the other).

You can fix it if it fails quickly! These horns are very attractive
3/5

However, this is the fourth set I've had on a boat and in a truck. Within two weeks, they had all failed. They did have the optional weather protector covers, and they had been there for three months. They're not meant to be used as a horn, so buy them for their aesthetic value. br> After all four sets failed, I dismantled one to see what was wrong. The bolts around the edge do not need to be removed; instead, peel off the sticker in the middle of the back, remove the screw, and lift off the back. By turning the screw while the power is on, you can adjust the contact for the loudest sound. WARNING: WEAR EAR PLUGS AS THIS CAN BE VERY LOUD. This fixed them all for me.

Stay Away From Wolo Horns That Aren't Working! I tested the trumpets before installing them, and only one of them works
3/5

I needed a horn for my boat, so I went to my local farm and home store and bought a single automotive horn to temporarily install on my boat. This horn also happened to be a Wolo horn, which I tested and found to do the same thing as the Dominator horn, namely, make a clicking noise. It appears that Wolo has a serious quality control problem, as I tried two of their products, both of which were defective junk. I will undoubtedly return and investigate other horn manufacturers. It's a shame, because it was an attractive horn.

I assumed it was just a bad set of headphones
3/5

Another year has passed, and yet another unit has failed. I've gone through two of these so far, and they only seem to last a year. Last set worked for the entire summer, then died. I sent it in for repair, never received a call back, and when I followed up, the tech told me it was beyond repair and that it was no longer warranted. ok. I assumed it was just a bad set of headphones. Set number two should be ordered. When I pulled the boat out of storage, it had been on for the entire summer. All I get is a click click. wolo. I'm sorry, but you've lost me as a client. When they're working, they're great ass horns. However, they do not last long. signed. customer who is dissatisfied.

Great Horn is a place in the United States of America where I bought this to replace the horn on my 1974 Crestliner Cuddy Cabin, which was broken
5/5

I was in a rush to install it because I had a weekend planned on the boat and the original horn had completely stopped working, so I needed to get this one installed to be legal. As promised, the device arrived on time. All of the components, including the wire nuts and fasteners, were included in the box. I removed the old unit and checked the new one for proper fit. Two of the holes are perfectly lined up. A few new holes had to be drilled. All of the fasteners were installed, and the wires were connected to the existing horn wires. The sound was incredible when I pressed the horn button. It took about an hour to complete the job, including the removal of the headliner. Warning. I have the right tools and a lot of experience working on boats, so it might take you a little longer, but just follow the directions and take your time. Later that weekend, while cruising, I accidentally hit the horn button for fun, and my wife nearly jumped out of her seat. The sound is truly amazing.
