The wire assemblies should be replaced if there is a problem with the horn, but if there is one, then the problem can be easily fixed. There's just one problem, the Jones nution box isn't the best. I routed around it but if you plan to use it, I'd recommend beading sealant on top of it to prevent it from being destroyed by the elements.
They're both true. A vehicle's wiring acts as the trigger for triggering the horn when you push the horn button on the steering wheel, but it must be powered directly by the vehicle's battery to function.
Neither I nor anyone else I know know if it is waterproof. The horn is installed on my Vespa and it has not caused me any problems. The horn of this horse is loud and will cause you to pay attention.
