Questions & Answers

Is there a floating decimal point on the display? Is it broken or not? Ex 120. 3 volts? Thanks?

The problem has been resolved. ie. 118v

Is this an AC voltmeter with true RMS readings?

Yes, if the AC waveform is true sinusoidal (or as close as possible for slightly noisy typical commercial power), it's a RMS (root mean square) voltmeter. It tries to be RMS on modified sine wave, but has the same integrating errors as other DMM voltmeters. I have two of these, and they are both RMS accurate to the integer voltage when using 60Hz commercial true sine wave power.

Is it possible to save the highest and lowest voltages?

The voltage is only shown in real time.

My inverter has two plugs, one of which is 3 prong 110 and the other of which is 4 prong 220; I'm looking for a 4 prong 220 unit; has anyone seen one? Thank you very much. ?

True RMS voltage was given with accuracy
5/5

I bought two DM55s. 1 Digital AC Voltmeter/Voltage Test Monitors, delivered in under a week I bought it for use in a RV and as a voltage monitor for an inverter generator. They're not very big. 2 to 3 years 1/8" wide, 1/8" deep, 1/8" deep, 1/8" deep 5/8" high and 1" deep (not including the two electrical prongs on the meter, which will extend out 1" from the electrical wall plug into which it is plugged). The meter's display face is 1-inch wide. The dimensions are 7/16" wide by 13/16" tall. The meter display has nice dark black digits against a nice deep blue background light that could also be used as a dim night light. According to the instructions on the box, the unit has a /- accuracy. 5% and measures voltage from to to to to to to to to to The voltage is 300 volts alternating current. I compared the readings from both meters to a true RMS voltmeter, and they were identical. The meter displays whole number voltage readings rather than tenths. While the box instructions are silent on the subject, the Amazon product details for this device state that if the meter is inaccurate, you can adjust the reading up or down. I didn't have to do this because the readings on both meters were correct, but there are four small phillips screws on the back of the device that can be removed to access the potentiometer if it needs to be adjusted. All that is required for the unit to function is that it be plugged into a standard household outlet. It is also effective. It's helpful to know the voltage for both my RV camper and generator so that I can avoid serious problems caused by excessively high or low voltage. At this time, I am satisfied with my purchase!.

The SMART RV bathroom night light is fantastic
5/5

There are three of these in my collection. They're all within a few volts of one another. In the RV world, where plug-in power is sporadic at best, these are a must-have. Some people invest a significant amount of money in power monitors. I can tell whether I'm using internal DC or external power, as well as the quality of that power, at a glance. I'm able to keep track of the load on the generator and shore power. To top it off, it works perfectly as a night light in both my RV and home bathrooms. For my parents' RV, I gave the third one to them. This can be connected in either direction. br>br> right side up, upside down It is possible because both plug spades are narrow. br>br>Why bother with a useless night light? It is possible to make a good decision for the same price.

Handy
3/5

When the power company changed our transformer, we had big voltage swings because of a bad neutral connection, so we bought six of these. It's much easier to find a volt meter and plug the wire leads into bare outlets if they were already plugged in when the lights started acting strangely. They perform admirably in this capacity. They aren't precise enough to measure your voltage accurately. The requirements are as follows: 5%+- 2 In other words, if your voltage is 120 volts, they can read between 116 and 124 volts. We returned one because the voltage was off by ten volts, and it was quickly replaced. The rest appears to be centered on - 2v (one standard deviation's expected value).

Meters that cost three times as much are just as accurate
5/5

This little voltmeter is a fantastic deal, and I can't imagine why anyone would want to pay more than they have to. br>br>As an electronics engineer, I can assure you that the old adage "you get what you pay for" is more often than not just marketing nonsense. Let's face it, AC voltage meters aren't exactly state-of-the-art. the- My only real concern is safety, as this particular meter does not appear to have passed any insurance safety standards testing, as I did not see any UL/ ETL/ FCC/ CE certifications. br>br> My only real concern is safety, as this particular meter does not appear to have passed any insurance safety standards testing. br>br>Having said that, it's such a basic device that I'm not too concerned about it. br>br> Keep in mind that most homeowner's and RV insurance policies forbid the use of non-UL or non-ETL listed devices. br>br>To put it another way, if the device causes a fire, your insurance company may void your policy and refuse to pay for the damage. As a result, it's always a good idea to check with your insurance company to see what their policy is on line-level products that aren't UL or ETL listed. br>br>I didn't need this device because I have an entire Electronics lab full of extremely precise equipment, but I'm a test equipment junkie and wanted to see what I could get for $5. br>br>I have to say I'm impressed; the accuracy is on par with anything I've seen for three times the price, and I have no reservations in recommending it. br>br>The only issue with digital meters is that they are too slow to detect power fluctuations. As a result, I always advise using both an analog and a digital gauge. br>br>The analog gauge will show you rapid voltage fluctuations that could indicate a problem, whereas the digital gauge will give you an instantaneous voltage reference. For this reason, if you ever visit a nuclear power plant, you'll notice that they use a combination of digital and analog gauges on the same measurements. br>br>Anyway, the bottom line is that it is well worth the investment.

In a travel trailer, this is a must-have feature
5/5

These were purchased after reading reviews on the internet in order to avoid overheating and melting your main power cord. Older campgrounds with old electric (30 amp for my TT) are where you should keep an eye on the power coming in. You can see changes in voltage with a volt meter plugged into an outlet. This way, if you need to turn off Kerug or delay using the microwave until the air conditioner comes on, you can do so. You can also adjust the temperature so that you don't have to run it as often. I had to get a new RV cord. I did buy a surge protector, but it was a cheap one that didn't turn off the power if the current was too low. You don't want to be under 108 volts after doing your research. This is what I discovered on the internet when I searched for "verify volts. ".
