I have an 03 SV1000 that plugs in and works, but if there is a secondary fuel management computer installed, such as a Power Commander, the gear indicator will not work properly. The PC informs the bike's computer that it is in a different gear, causing the fuel delivery to be altered, and the indicator to display the incorrect gear. To cut a long story short, my gear indicator is essentially a neutral indicator, with '0' indicating neutral and '5' indicating all other gears.
Both speed and rpm are used in the one for my 2003 Hayabusa. If the connectors are compatible with those on your bike, it should work.
It's compatible with fuel-injected motorcycles.
Yes, the connectors on the K5 and K6 are the same; they are located under the rear seat cover in the same location.br>They work perfectly on my son's bike.

The only issue I had was locating the correct plug, which is located closer to the tail behind the battery as well as behind the fuse panels, and once located, simply plug it in. Also, be aware that the extra sticky faceplate they provide does not seem to hold up well and keeps falling off, so I used a little rubber cement to secure it and it has worked perfectly since. I'd like to emphasize the importance of disconnecting the battery ahead of time, as I failed to do so the first time and the bike wouldn't start, resulting in an FI code. I disconnected and reconnected the battery, and everything is working fine now. I hope this information is useful to others who may encounter the same issue as I did. Aside from that, I am completely satisfied with my purchase.
There is no need for calibration. There is no need to cut wires, calibrate, or program this for my bike because it is plug and play. It does what it says, but the gear changing is a little sluggish. A nice display of bright red.
! UPDATE! br>I'm still happy with my purchase after using it for a while, but the gear indicator has some serious lag times at times, but even at its worst, it will eventually sync up without your intervention. I believe it is the bike's ECM, not the gear indicator, that is causing this. br>br>Everyday driving is fine, even if it lags a little from time to time; however, rapid shifting and track days are out of the question.
Although there is some lag, it is extremely dependable and useful. I spent around ten dollars on a cheap indicator that did not work. This one was pricier, but it worked right out of the box and has proven to be dependable since I installed it. The display updates are a little sluggish, but this hasn't been a problem for me. It tells me what to wear every time I look at it. The maximum lag between a shift and a display update is perhaps 2 seconds, but this occurs only in exceptional circumstances. The cause of the lag is unknown to me. In most cases, the display refreshes in under a second. br>br>It's incredibly simple to set up. It's ready to use right out of the box. There haven't been any problems, and there isn't any programming. br>br>If I had to choose between riding with or without a gear indicator, I'd go with the latter because it's not that expensive, and it's very useful; I use it all the time when I'm riding.
It fit perfectly into the diagnostic connector and started working right away, exactly as it should. I've soldered the clutch lever safety switch wires together, obviating the need for a safety switch. Whether upshifting or downshifting, regardless of engine RPM, the correct gear is displayed immediately. If you don't like changing the gear display indicator by cycling the clutch lever, this is a mod to consider.
It was incredibly simple to set up, and I couldn't be happier with the price I paid when compared to the other, much more expensive option. When I'm focused on approaching a sharp turn or stopping, it's great to have one less thing on my mind. Sure, you can get by without one, but now that I have one, I'm very happy with it. In the future, I'll install one on each of my bikes. I'm overjoyed that I was able to obtain it.
In less than an hour, I had it set up and ready to ride. This simple addition makes riding a lot more efficient and enjoyable.
It took 5 minutes to install on a 2006 SV650s. When it comes to online shopping, you almost never get exactly what you pay for. This product does exactly what it claims. There's no need to splice wires or figure out which one goes where. There is no need to set it up because it is a plug-and-play device. Simply use the provided cut to fit adhesive tape to secure it to your gauges, then connect the cable to your Suzuki's diagnostics plug. That is all there is to it. Turn the key and go; there is a slight delay between shifting and the gear number changing, but it is only noticeable when you are looking for it.
Easy to set up, with a bright, easy-to-read display and the ideal length wire for an SV650S. So far, about 90-percent of those who have applied have been successful. This thing is perfect 95% of the time. Every now and then it seems to confuse 1st and 2nd for a moment, but it corrects after a second or two. Other gears, however, are something I'm not familiar with. The included doublesided tape is cut to the exact size required, but it remains gummy/soft, causing the indicator to twist in place slightly. It's time to invest in some better tape or glue.
