I've had several naked bikes with gear indicators built into the dashboard, and when I got my Vulcan 900, I realized how much I missed them, so I decided to give this one a shot. It's a simple plug-in installation. It was fun to play and everything went smoothly. The gear indicator receives the updated gear position from the ECU via the diagnostic connector only after you release the clutch because the Vulcan lacks the necessary sensors.
On my 2008 Versys 650, I installed this. The plug that comes with it isn't a Versys, but my bike's diagnostic port had a blank plug/cover, so I just plugged the pins in there. Overall, it's not too difficult, and once you've programmed it, it works quite well. br>br>On an 08 Versys (might be the same for a 09 or Ninja 650r), the 4 pin Diagnostic port has the following connections:br>Ground - Diagnostic line - black with yellow stripe = black wirebr> N/Abr>power - light grey with a black stripe Red wirebr>mode switch - brown with white stripebr> White wire is light grey with a white stripe.
It's been a month since I got it and it's still going strong.
It performs admirably. Installing it was a breeze. br>br>Perfect br>br>Perfect br>br>Perfect b.
