To measure the power output of my Generac generator, I purchased this hour meter. There seems to be no original hour meter in this generator because it is over 8 years old. The warranty period has expired. I bought this unit so I could use it. I just wish it were a little wider - So, I needed to widen the opening with a file. And the generator has about 70 hours on it, mostly in the last few months. By connecting the hour meter to a laptop battery charger for a few days, I was able to calibrate it. Having the option to use DC or AC, 5V up to something like 240 volts, is nice. This is a very easy to read product and this is way cheaper than buying Generac OEM parts for about It is a unit I recommend.

This is an excellent tool to do On a lawn tractor that didn't come with a factory hour meter, I installed this device and it works without a problem

There is some way it manages to display the current reading at all times (starts with zero from the manufacturer and increases by 1/10 hour increments) even when it is not powered up. Could it possibly be a capacitor? The following method allows me to look at the current reading without having to turn the mower's key every time I want to see how I'm doing with.
