With the use of the shunt, it cannot measure DC voltage, but only DC current. Use a current meter with a current meter that has a proper connection

Are the dimensions of the shunt resistor mount the same as the ones of yours?

It is not my area of expertise so I have no answer.

If the meter can be adjusted to zero at the center, could it be used to display current both upwards and downwards?

There are multiple options for adjusting it. The extent of its impact I am not yet sure.

Using two 100 watt solar panels, I am running a small solar setup. My job as a retired electronic technician required that I be able to see what current my panels were providing me while simultaneously seeing what my storage batteries were churning out. This analog panel meter proved to be very accurate at a reasonable price, so yes, I give it a 5 star rating.

Perhaps a mounting templet would be a good idea? The wire and a voltmeter are replaced by a twist of 10 gauge wire

I like the neater look better. A templet must be made from scratch, and a hole saw must be purchased in order to mount the meter. With the purchase of these hole saws, I now have a limited collection. I'm so sorry!.
