The car harness is too short to reach the high-tone horn connector because it's on the driver's side. Cut the car harness connector off, splice on about 6 inches of extra wire, and reattach the connector to install the high tone horn. Additionally, to move the horns toward the front of the car, you must bend the mounting brackets from flat strips into Z shaped strips on both horns. br>br>Last but not least: I'm not sure why, but if you overtighten the nuts that secure the horns to the mounting brackets, the horns will sound incredibly weak. To get a good sound out of the horns, I had to mount them with silicone washers. I'm stumped as to why this occurs - It isn't a grounding issue because I tried it and found it to be the root of the problem. However, because the horns also beep in response to remote door locking, there may be some computer involvement in the horn blowing.
It was simple to install these because I already had the nose off of my Honda HRV. They fit perfectly, though the mounting arm on the passenger side horn had to be rotated. The connector adapters were perfect for the job. When there isn't much traffic, I like to honk the horn because it sounds good. "Meep-meep" is no longer an option. meep”. br>I would only replace the horns from the bottom if I had done so previously. Even when you can see the locking connectors, they are difficult to remove and reinstall.
My 8-year-old van's horns had stopped working, so I purchased these to replace them. The horns are designed to work on a variety of vehicle brands, and the included adapter appears to have been well thought out. The horn's tone is a little off, but time will tell if it can handle the road salt used where I live. They're not quite as loud as my van's horn and, thankfully, not as quiet as a small car's beep, but they'll do the job.
This is for my 2019 Honda Civic hatchback, which I purchased. Although there isn't much room at the factory for two horns in place of the original single, it is possible to do so by removing the bumper garnish/trim piece. To get in there, you'll probably need a stubby wrench and will probably have to temporarily disconnect the intercooler piping. It's even better if you can remove the whole bumper. Another option is to relocate the radiator to a new location.
Once installed, they performed admirably in a 2005 BMW 325ci. There is no need to cut or splice the data. The adapters were a little difficult to install on the horns, and the horn mounting brackets were not the same, so the mounting brackets from the old horns had to be used instead.
It was very simple to replace both horns beneath the headlights. To gain access, turn the wheels and remove the fasteners from the wheel liner. My low tone had faded, and the car no longer sounded funny.
It worked perfectly to replace the horn on my 2017 Ford Explorer XLT Sport; the instructions could be a little clearer, but if you're handy, you'll be able to figure it out. I've only had it for a few days, so I'm not going to give it 5 stars until I see how long it lasts.
The horns sound good, but due to the setup of the connectors to the horn, I had to extend the factory wires a couple of inches. The wires that came with the setup were too short. The rest was a piece of cake after that.
