Whether you are working on a smaller block or a large block, the set up is the same. This should work, and I see no reason why it wouldn't. On my '63 327/340, I was able to install mine. Several steps were taken to make starting a business Michael Resto
That would seem to be the case. According to my understanding, the Pertronix model will fit all small blocks from the 1960s. That one would fit my 1965 Buick Skylark with the 300 engine. However, I need to make a few adjustments. If you want to be sure You can check your Pertronix part number on the Pertronix web site using the distributor s part number.

My 1967 327 hadn't been started in 19 years because I installed this on it! starter fluid is definitely no joke. I sprayed it in the carb (no fuel tank connected yet), and the engine started on the After only a second crank I got it running to the point of perfection.
I was able to get it set up in no time. The only reason why I didn't give it five stars was that I had trouble setting it up, and I must have taken it apart and set it up at least a dozen times just to get it to work as it should. My final task was to replace the distributor gear with another washer after removing the gear. While the instructions are clear and all of the parts were supplied, the final product was still not exactly within specs, but it did still work well on my 1957.
In order to replace an old unit, I bought this Petronix model. Since the one installed has not caused any issues, I just wanted to change it to prevent it from failing. It was easy to space the modules properly and there was no interference between them. I had been driving my car and was having no problems for 3 months, until this morning it wouldn't start. Finally, after all I had tried, I found that the spark was missing, so I removed the distributor and found a piece of Mylar wrapped around the shaft. Despite all the magnets around the distributor, it was completely messed up. My first thought was to reinstall the magnets and get it running again, but once I discovered the module was damaged, I couldn't get it working again. The likes of this have never occurred to me Petronix has been my go-to software for years, but after using this one for a while, I was very disappointed.
" model. This simple upgrade makes my 1968 Riviera look brand new. The distributor had to be removed from the engine for installation, although I am not sure if I really needed to do that after the fact. It likely made it easier than hunching over the vehicle. The engine overall seems happier with a better response time and a less twitchy engine.
I don't believe this would be a big project, so don't be daunted. It can easily be done in an hour or two. In my case, as an experienced mechanic, I spent two days disassembling, cleaning, painting, and lubricating the entire distributor unit since I thought it was in dire need after 40 years. Since this unit is so simple to use, any performance concerns I had with the ignition are gone. Just plug it in set the timing, and you're done! In addition, I replaced the coil with a PerTronix Flame Thrower 2 one. It was a little larger than the prior coil, so I had to extend the mounting holes on the coil bracket a little so that it would sit farther away from the distributor cap. The Corvette 350 SBC I used for my installation was a 1973.
With this product you are able to eliminate the stock points ignition, it's easy to install and you don't have to adjust or change the points any more.
I heard that it was a great improvement over the stock coils. It's easier to get started, and it's There has been a dramatic improvement in the response of the throttle across the whole powerband. In the beginning, I was sceptical, but now I am convinced. It is better to ditch the points/condenser system and standard coil and run this. You will not be disappointed.
The early distributor is a quality update, follow provided instructions and there should be no problems. I have used several of these on older Wisconsin engines, they are a recommended update, I also purchased a new Pertronix coil.
