Questions & Answers

Isn't sewage going to clog the check valve's swing? (Toilet paper, for example)?

Mine has been in place for three years and is still going strong. For two of those years, our daughter was the sole user of that bathroom. So far, there have been no issues, and it is as quiet as it claims to be. I'll definitely get the same check valve if I ever need to replace it. It's a lot quieter now than it was when we first moved in. And there are no issues with toilet paper or other waste. It's worth noting that I replaced the pump at the same time.

Above the check valve on my valve is a large red lever with open and shut positions. Is it necessary to keep it "open" for regular use?

I believe you're looking at a shutoff valve, which should be turned off when you install the quiet valve to prevent water from backing up into the drain system. The shutoff should be opened and left open once the valve is installed. This valve performs admirably and is exceptionally quiet.

I'm assuming the red lever is in the "vertical" position when it's open. ?

Yes. When the lever is in line (parallel) with the valve, it is usually in the open position. It is closed when it is at a 90-degree angle to the valve.

Is this silent check valve safe to use with drinking water?

I applied it to the sewage-treatment plant. ejector pit is a term used to describe a pit in which something is I don't see why you'd have a 2" potable water pipe, but I also don't see why you wouldn't if it was properly sanitized. It's best to double-check with the company that makes the product. With all the money Amazon makes, you'd think these people would contact the manufacturer instead of asking technical questions.

Yes, there is a spring in it! As you read this review, keep in mind that I am a do-it-yourself home repairer
5/5

br>br>I've done business with the largest plumbing supply company in my 500,000-person town for years, have an account with them, and regard their advice as near-golden. I've had a sewage sump pump in our basement for all those years, and the 2" check valve has to be replaced every 10 years or so. The last one this supply house sold me had a spring in it that operated a ball type valve, and it was relatively quiet and faultless until the ball seat started to leak years later. As a result, I returned to purchase another only to be told: "A spring-operated valve is not what you want!" " This check valve came to my attention as a result of a web search, and you can imagine my surprise when I discovered it was operated by a stainless steel spring. So, I just finished installing it, and all I can say is WOW. I have to stand next to it to see if it's working because it moves so quickly and quietly. br>br>How about the problem with the spring? Remember how the last one I bought from the supply house was spring-operated? It lasted years, and after doing some research, I discovered that several companies now make large, spring-operated check valves for industry, with diameters of up to 11 inches or more. As a result, I'm willing to take a chance. In the meantime, my sump pump, house, and occupants enjoy the gentle closing of the valve rather than the jarring rattling of flapper style valves. br>br>UPDATE FOR 2016: Since it was installed, this check valve has performed flawlessly, and I'm glad Amazon still has it in stock.

It's a cinch to use
5/5

My old has stopped making all of his loud noises! The loud banging noise on my ejector pump has solved this check valve. I had been trying to figure out why my pump was so loud for years. After a friend recommended that I get a new check valve, I went straight to Amazon. br>br>I found this valve, bought it, installed it (with some handyman skills) and ta-daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa No more noise. br>br>The flap inside this valve must be a slow close so that it does not bang when the pump stops shooting water up the pipe; the noise I used to have would shake my entire house and even wake me up in the middle of the night. This valve silenced the noise and has performed admirably since its installation! If your pump stops pumping with a loud "bang," you probably have an old-school check valve that slams shut! This valve is a great way to get rid of that "banging" sound!.

Finally, there isn't a loud bang! With this review, I'm not sure where to start
5/5

Since our baby's birth in September 2017, my house has been overrun with laundry. The previous valve was too loud for the baby to sleep through. For years, I fought with my husband over whether or not we should do something. So, after much deliberation, I decided to take action. I bought this valve and had a friend come over to assist with the installation of the hubs. I'm finally getting back into the swing of things with the laundry! If you're contemplating it. br>br> Just go for it! This is allowing us to get rid of some of the clutter in our home!.

Oh my goodness, it's so silent

A few months ago, I had a new bathroom and ejector pit installed in my basement, and of course, the contractor used the cheapest check valve he could find (that's construction), and it slammed shut, and you could hear it throughout the house. I installed the Campbell valve this morning and turned on the water to see how quiet it was; I was standing right next to it and couldn't hear it. So I'm back on Amazon, this time purchasing a Campbell's 1" 1/2 quiet check valve for my sump pump, which I can hear when it shuts off, but which I'm confident I won't hear again once I install the new valve.

The value of silence is immeasurable
5/5

I couldn't find a 2" quiet check valve in my local store, so I was delighted to discover it on Amazon! I recently replaced an ejector pump and chose the standard check valve, which resulted in a thump every time the pump ran. I replaced it with this one and am now completely satisfied that I will no longer be subjected to that noise. I can't speak to its durability, but if I have to replace it every year, that's fine with me. If you don't follow code and install a ball valve downstream, you'll end up with a messy situation if you need to replace the check valve.

It works even better than I had hoped
5/5

I can only add to the plethora of glowing testimonials. This device met, if not exceeded, my lofty expectations based on other people's experiences. All we could hear on the first two test runs after the old valve was removed and this new one was installed was a very gentle end to the wooshing sound of fluid movement, accompanied by an ever-increasing sound of fluid movement. When it "slammed shut," there was a slight visual vibration. " It's incredible. My plumber, who has worked in the industry for about 30 years, was speechless and immediately became a fan. Because he is as awestruck as he is, I believe this is an even more remarkable product. Thank you.

I'd give this product a perfect score of seven stars if I could! This is a must-have for anyone who owns a sump pit and a check valve
5/5

Our old check valve made a bowling ball sound every time it closed, waking us up at night. The first night we moved in, I thought an intruder had kicked in the downstairs door because it was so loud. I had a plumber come out and tell me there was nothing he could do, so I went online to Amazon and ordered The Quiet Check Valve. After the installation, it was like night and day; you couldn't even hear the valve turn on. The price is also extremely low; it has made a significant difference in our home, and I strongly recommend it for yours. I'd give this product a perfect score of seven stars if I could!.

So far, everything seems to be going swimmingly

This one took the place of a standard flap check valve. It's very quiet now, and it doesn't sound like the house is about to fall apart. I've only had it for a few weeks, so I'm hoping it will last.
