In my case, I purchased a coil that worked on 6 volts. Before I was able to get the tractor running, I had to replace both the coil and the dropping resistor

After replacing the old coil with a new one, the tractor began to run normally.
The item was a bit slow to arrive compared to other items in the same order, but it fit perfectly in my 1948 Ford 8N with a front mount distributor.
After a week, it went up in flames.
Shipper was very fast to deliver the item to me yesterday. As soon as the coil was mounted on the tractor, it fired up for the first time in over.
The OEM replacement is a good fit and at an affordable.
The next thing I knew, I was shooting at.
