Excellent gasket. RTV is not to be used. If you torque the gasket to the specified torque, it will do its job. You've probably watched a bunch of DIY videos on YouTube and aren't sure if you should use RTV, a gasket, or both. As I previously stated, simply use the gasket and torque it to specification. Note: I use a small amount of lock tight on the bolts to keep them from loosening over time.
It was a good product that fit perfectly. When permatex is used, there are no leaks. After 5000 miles of trouble-free service, you'll need 2 1/2 quarts to refill it.
I changed my oil and used the same gasket as before the differential rebuild. It worked the first time and the second time. After a recent rebuild, I'm going to use it for the third time to change my oil and inspect my differential. On my gaskets, I don't use rtv. The surface is kept clean and dry at all times. There will never be an issue. To prevent warping of the housing cover and leaks, always torque bolts in a star pattern.
It works as advertised, and it's a fair price. I bought and installed this gasket about two years ago, and it's done its job well since then.
It claims to fit the 1965 Pontiac Bonneville, but it doesn't.
6 diff. I installed a posi carrier and replaced the gasket because it was leaking; now there are no leaks.
Instead, I had to redo everything and purchase the $30 gasket.
Better value for money. It was a perfect match. Thank you so much, I'm overjoyed.
