A lot of pro's products are excellent
3/5

The dry install of this product resulted in leaks. In a nutshell, A lot of pro's products are excellent. The dry install of this product resulted in leaks. Due to the nature of the job, I had to redo it and used ultra black silicone under the timing cover and as a precaution, under the rear main seal.

I like the way it works
5/5

This 95 Tahoe 5 is in excellent condition. The K1500 comes in at 7 TBi. It has been a week since my truck had a leak of equal size to a dime. During the past couple of weeks it has become a dollar a day leak. So, I thought now was the time to locate it. In the end, when I tore off the bellhousing and prayed it was not the rear main, I discovered that the leak was primarily at the oil pan gasket and the filter housing.

I have found that the gaskets provided by the manufacturer themselves are very well made, thick, and built to last. Unless there is an error on the user's part, these do not appear to be (I am crossing my fingers. ) I've always used felpro gaskets and had no problems. Due to the fact that my vehicle is a 4x4, I am using a I'm not going to tell lies. We had a hard time completing the It is true that that might scare you, but don't let it deter With the help of a torque wrench, ramps, and a jack, I assembled the deck. In short (disclaimer don't blame me if you do it wrong) I simply removed the exhaust, inspection cover, skid plate, two support rods that go to the inspection cover, two In any case. You will need something to raise the engine by the harmonic balancer after you have removed all that. Use a piece of wood and something else to lift it. As far as your engine will allow, tilt it up as far as you can before crushing the heater hoses or damaging the transmission. You will have enough clearance to take the pan off if you do this. As you unbolt the oil filter housing, shimmy it aside so you can reach the bolts on the pan. The 10mm and 13mm bolts should be unbolted, and mating surfaces should be cleaned. The block and pan sandwiching the gasket were rtv'd up evenly and thinly (done this way for years and no leaks). I spread a thicker traditional bead on the corners where the front and rear main turns create corners on the gasket (4). Make sure the bolts are finger tightened and take care not to squish too much rtv out of the tube. Do not forget to reuse the metal tabs on the outside of the pan to tighten the bolts evenly once the RTV has been seated overnight. Once this is done, torque that RTV down to specs (7lbs on the 10mm and 18lbs on the 13mm). Once you have all of that snugged up, use the gaskets that came with the oil filter housing, and then bolt that Reassemble everything you removed and woohoo! (The old paper-like gasket on the filter housing may need to be scraped carefully off first. ) It's time to say goodbye to the mess on the Ok, so that was a general overview, but I think Make sure you are extra clean and taking your time. Instead, I used little blue thingsamabobs to keep the studs in place. The only thing I did was hold the pan in place while my helper tightened up the bolts. Nevertheless, they seemed to be nice.

If you install it dry, it forms a perfect seal
5/5

The filter went on dry, just like it should, and did not give off any The good idea fairy may lead you to sealant application- Don't fall for it! This is not necessary and often leads to leaks whenever it would not normally. It is important to clean the block and pan. I like how clean it is. Sealer should not be used. Honestly, resist the urge to second guess and overthink your designs - Installing it properly is the key to getting it to work.

The replacement is a very good one for my 29-year-old You can't really say that the installation of any oil pan gasket is easy
5/5

Due to having the trans am off and the flex plate removed to replace the rear main seal (and rotating the engine so the harmonic balancer timing mark points straight down at the bottom of the engine) I was able to take the pan off more easily. Even though the old seal was still doing its job, I cut off both ends to install the timing set and the rear main seal and the Fel- is one of my favorites A silicone rubber seal or gasket for your car.

The best out there or at least as good as any other
5/5

There is a lot of work to be done if you hope to do this gasket. I feel fel- The Pro (brand of Federal Mogul) has been a solid choice for me in the past and was the same this time around. With the special plastic screws to go in the corners, it was easy to get the gasket installed.

The gasket here is different from the one I had on my old Porsche. With this cover, there is a skirting that mates with the timing cover, unlike with the OE. Please make sure that your timing cover is on prior to setting this gasket. If you do that and read the directions about where you need permatex (oh yes, go ahead and get permatex ultra grey or something similar you trust) this gasket will do the trick.

If you choose to purchase anything else, MAKE SURE it is rubber like this and not cork or any other material.

There is no need to look any further! #1 gasket for LT1
5/5

In the past 7 months and after about 5k miles, not a single drop of oil has seenp onto my garage floor and the seal is still as blue as it always was. The pros are Installation was easy, the rubber material was thick and the color was good for displaying leaks. It came with everything you would need to replace all of your pan seals. There are none.

Gaskets had been removed from the set
3/5

I picked up a slightly crushed outer box when I picked up the box. Upon opening it, I found the Gasket kit box had been opened and re-taped due to the fact the box had not been secured. Despite the fact that all of the parts were there, why was I sold an item that had been It's difficult to control the quality of the product.

Put a dab of Oxime cure RTV on the back of your hand
5/5

Since I use them for years, I have no concerns about their quality. Make sure that everything is dry and clean before reassembling. To prevent water from accumulating under the timing cover and rear main cap, I like to put a small dab of Oxime cure RTV silicone where the oil pan rails and timing cover meet. USE ACETOXY CURE RTV AT YOUR OWN RISK This has a musty smell and will cause corrosion and leaks. In the event that the engine is still present in the vehicle, the keeper studs can be useful for replacing the gasket.
