You shouldn't need to seal this gasket if you have a clean housing surface and no gouges or dimples on the flange surface. If your cover is not bent or has dimples on the flange surface, you should not need For my gasket installation, I made sure the surface of my housing was clean and then installed it with a new cover (they're not too expensive, I recommend them). Weight 10 pounds). No leaks have been reported in the thousands of miles I have driven since installation. A couple of thousand miles of driving on this in a 4x4 Explorer and it didn't leak or show any signs of abnormal leakage. All seems to be well so far.
It is a good product, it is a great price, and it has.
Previously, the gasket appeared as if it would have lasted for a long time. No leaks are detected with the gasket as it is well constructed.
Gaskets like this one are made very solidly and are thick. I had no leaks in my differential and the seals fit perfectly.
It did exactly what it was supposed to. It should cost a reasonable amount.
