If you need a spacer to block the heat, this is it. If you tighten it down, when it is perfectly flat since it is not rigid like those "plastic" spacers, it will be the same as perfectly flat. You cannot tell for sure if it is sealed up or not because it has give. This is worth the price and is much better than those thick "paper" gaskets from the factory. One issue is that the carb holes are too large to fit a wide variety of carbs, but it won't pose a problem for most carbs.
This CNC-milled part is designed to give some of the external linkages in a Holley carburettor a little more space when installed on a new intake manifold. You can see the image here. It is a fabric impregnated with phenolic material that is flat, very stable, and good at insulating. Additionally, this protects the carburetor from direct heat generated by the manifold. The carburetor to manifold gaskets need to be used with care Make sure there are no leaks in the vacuum system. On both sides of the gaskets, I coated a thin layer of high temperature grease - I did not find any Be sure to check the clearance before closing the hood.
The heater is a great way to insulate the heat from my carburator to my motor.
