The pan I have is a C6 How do I measure the diameter of the grommet to fit the C6 filter?

A C6 will not be able to fit in it

As aluminum pans vary greatly in depth, how does one know if this will work and not reduce the filter capacity too low - it added 3 quarts of water to my pan. ?
