Because people kept saying how loud the Outlaws were, and clips I listened to supported that, I was initially hesitant to buy the Outlaws and was leaning towards the American Thunder Classics instead. I also had a CAI and tune installed on the car, which had already improved the exhaust note, so I was worried it would be too loud. But, in the end, I figured it was better to be a little too loud than to be a little too quiet and disappointed. br>br>And it was the correct choice. The Outlaws make a lot of noise. Despite the fact that they don't sound that loud to my ear in the car- Don't get me wrong: if you're accelerating, you'll hear these, and you'll hear them loudly. At idle, you can hear a decent grumble, which is exactly what I wanted, but once you stop accelerating, all you hear is a light exhaust note (and I mean LIGHT) in the car. At 80 mph and above, or approximately 2300 RPMs and up, these "drone" at crusing speeds, which I happen to enjoy. br>br>Now, as I mentioned, I have an Airaid CAI and a Steeda tune, so the note is even more aggressive than stock, but I'm still debating whether to go with a catted X Pipe or an Off Road X Pipe. My main concern is that I believe an O/R X pipe with these would be extremely loud, possibly too much for daily driving, but I imagine a very aggressive but tolerable tone with an X Pipe fitted behind the br>br>UPDATE FOR 4 WEEKS AFTER INSTALL: After three weeks of break-in, the Outlaws are LOUD. If you don't want your neighbors making "friendly" comments about your new exhaust, random women stopping you in parking lots, or an extra couple notches on your stereo to hear your music, don't buy these. Anyone who says they aren't "that loud" either hasn't installed a Cold Air Intake and/or tuned their car OR hasn't let the Outlaws break in (or is used to something even louder like Pype Bombs or simply an older car with no mufflers at all). My garage windows visibly vibrate on a cold start up with my garage door closed; These SCREAM-inducing SCREAM-inducing SCREAM-inducing SCREAM After 3000 RPMs, many mufflers become quieter, but these become LOUDER. People walking AWAY from me on sidewalks nearly a city block away turn and look at me on a regular basis, and this is with me lightly on the throttle under 2000 RPMs. As I drove past a nearby Starbucks the other night, a friend said he could hear me being obnoxious. Moreover, he was confined to the confines of his own home. Just this week, I was stopped by two women who were completely shocked in parking lots after I pulled in under normal, light driving conditions to comment on the "pure sexiness" of the sound-system. "THAT'S a panty dropper sound," my best friend (also a woman) exclaimed when she first heard them last week. And, with all of that said, if you want to keep a low profile, you can, but you'll have to go slow and easy on the throttle. And that is EXACTLY what I was hoping for- However, you have been warned that not everyone wants that. I considered using an H Pipe or an X Pipe to add some kick to the sound when I first installed these, but I'm glad I waited for the break in period. On a daily driver with a CAI and H/X pipe, these would be UNBEARABLE. Finally, the "drone" that so many people complain about is now very present at any speed over 55 mph. At the age of 70 and up, it's ALWAYS THERE. To be honest, I'm not sure why that bothers people- Maybe some people have more sensitive ears than me, or maybe it's just a matter of personal preference and taste, but I want to be reminded that 400 HP is only 18 inches away on the other side of that firewall. This exhaust makes it abundantly clear. br>br>A couple of notes on installation: To install these, you'll need to jack up the car or, better yet, put the back end on ramps. To install these, you'll only need that and a socket set. One caveat: to fit over the bolts AND the extender, you'll need deep sockets. A socket wrench with an extendable handle would be useful as well. The hangar bolt on the forward hangar, which is located ABOVE the muffle and on the body, is the most serious problem. You'll need to remove the other hangar and loosen the exhaust so you can use the wrench to loosen it. Installing the Outlaws is incredibly simple once the stocks have been removed. The entire installation should take no more than 2 hours for anyone with even a basic understanding of automobiles, with the most difficult part being the removal of the stock mufflers. br>br>The fit and finish are excellent, and shipping was quick and well packaged (though I found it amusing that the mufflers are manufactured 10 miles from my house and had to be shipped across the country twice to reach me). With the 25% off promotion, prices were amazing and shipped for under $300. br>br>Overall, I'm very happy- The Outlaws give the Mustang that muscle car sound, with a nice deep rumble that is a Flowmaster signature, and they're loud but not glass-shattering loud. This book comes highly recommended.

A fantastic axle-to-axle ratio I did some research on axle-back exhaust
5/5

I had these in my cart for about a week before I pulled the trigger on them after having back exhaust for about two weeks. I'm so glad I chose these because they sound incredible on my 2005 GT. Everything else on my car is stock right now, but these are a lot louder than the stock axle. exhaust from the back. But don't believe the rumors that you'll set off alarms and attract cops. In terms of exhaust note and volume level, these are right on the border between not being loud enough and being obnoxious and offensive to neighbors. You can slowly roll through your neighborhood without bothering anyone because the exhaust is nice and deep. However, if you stomp on it, they will roar! The installation was simple; we simply parked the car on ramps and had plenty of room to work. It's more difficult to remove the driver's side than it is to remove the passenger's side. With a break, it may have taken 2 hours total. This purchase has exceeded my expectations. If you're on the fence about purchasing these Flowmaster Outlaws, don't be. You will not be disappointed with your purchase. I'm sure I would have been disappointed if I had bought the American Thunder series or any other. These are absolutely perfect and make the S197 sound exactly like a muscle car should.

One of the tips was dented, and the exhaust hangers were misaligned
3/5

Installing something like this should be fairly straightforward. However, the exhaust hangers on the passenger side were out of alignment, making installation nearly impossible without some modifications. The exhaust tip had been dented as well. It was advertised as BRAND NEW in the advertisement. So it appears that someone pawned a brand new but damaged set. The biggest issue, however, was the exhaust hangers not lining up properly. Installing the passenger side was extremely difficult, whereas installing the driver's side took about 15 minutes.

Mustang GT for 2010 - The sound is excellent, and it was easy to install
5/5

Sound quality is excellent, with a rich depth to it. By no means, in my opinion, is it too loud. Gives the Mustang a nice, aggressive sound to go along with its appearance. The removal of the original exhaust pipes and mufflers was the most difficult part of the installation. To remove the original clamps and separate the rusted sections of pipe, I used penetrating oil and muscle; if using a socket wrench by hand, do yourself a favor and place a long pipe over the socket wrench to provide much more leverage. The Flowmasters fit perfectly, the hangers were in the exact right position, and the exhaust tips were perfectly centered in the bumper cutouts after the OEM mufflers were removed. Great sound, easy installation, and I would definitely buy these Flowmasters again.

Thank you so much
5/5

These are a huge improvement over the factory mufflers on my 2010 Mustang GT convertible. br>It only took me two hours to complete the installation. I didn't even bother to put the car on ramps, and it took me 3 hours. The stock mufflers were the most difficult to remove. After that, installing the Outlaws was much easier because they are smaller than the original mufflers, giving you more room to work with. br>These things are loud, but not in an obnoxious or overpowering way. I considered purchasing the American Thunder series, but I was concerned that they would be similar to the factory mufflers. I'm glad I chose the Outlaws as my team. They sound fantastic, and the drone is kept to a minimum. It'll make you smile every time you start your car.
