The clamp I previously had was too rusted to be reused, so I purchased this for adjusting my exhaust system. One of these barely holds the catalytic converter to the muffler In the design, rather than tensioning the semicultic sections as they are supposed to, the bolts tie them together instead of going through the flat sections on the ends. As a result, they are unable to As a result, there is a gap between the muffler and catalytic converter, resulting in a sound similar to an improperly tuned exhaust not an ideal situation.
It's awful to use these clamps! To date, I have not found a seal that fits between the muffler and the resonator pipe yet that will allow this clamp to fit without causing any damage. There is no seal, so all of them It didn't work after I bought one from Amazon. Trying advance auto, auto zone, and foreign autopart, I found that they all came up with different seals yet none of them allowed the pipe to be squeezed tightly enough so that this clamp will fit. While I was on this application, I only used brand new Walker parts. This clamp wraps around the entire pipe at the factory and I would avoid it if I were you.
It is indicated that this item is not compatible with the 1998 Volvo V70 AWD. This version is for pipes that are smaller in diameter.
As I mentioned, my mechanic showed me the proper part, and Walker 35732 Hardware Hanger passed the online test, "Does this part fit your vehicle?"? The installation mechanic showed me the "real" part, but I failed the real-life test. I was given an opportunity to see.
As with the Volvo clamp, this one works as well. If the clamp is positioned properly, then it does not pose a problem, even if it feels flimsy. A rubber gasket creates a seal between the pipes and helps to keep them together. There seems to be a problem with people using it because they either have a system that is not compatible or expect a fit that the clamp is not designed for.
I got the clamp, installed it on the new exhaust, and it's perfect. I have used Walker products before and have never had a problem with them.
