This is a great kit at an excellent price
5/5

I have not installed it yet, but it looks to be a good deal. The packaging looks okay as well. I found a few small areas of rust flash on a few lobes of the cam, but it will easily rub off with steel wool and oil. This is a great deal for the price. I hope it works and that the car has more power when it is finished. I will install it after a few months, maybe I will provide some feedback once it is You will find it for a 1967.

It has been misengineered to the nth degree
3/5

The installation of this kit as is will destroy your engine! Please read and understand the instructions carefully. A camshaft is a great piece of machinery. There's a lot of power with a wicked throttle response, as well as an unholy midrange An idle that's really choppy and lacks midrange power. In the end, it was the design of the rest of the kit that I had issues with. The valves have two springs a closed spring with a force of 200 pounds, and an open spring with a force of 420 pounds. When it comes to a 400 Pontiac street rod you don't want to weigh more than There are 320 points of closed pressure and 320 points of open pressure. More than that, a cam lobe will be wiped out, and the valves in the heads will be beaten out. Isn't it strange how so many cameras seem to I believe this has a lot to do with it. Second, of the three springs, only the flat one coil binds when the cam is fully lifted. There is yet another problem to deal with. An engine fails when coil springs are binded and 420lbs of pressure is applied. It was recommended that pushrods be installed. The valves remained open for too long because the valves were left open too long. So I ordered new 120lb rods whose lengths were correct and the valves were not closing. This resulted in no compression and the engine would not start. And, I really mean wicked! I built a new engine with new valve springs and it is running like a dream. However, had I just thrown this kit into this engine as it was and started it I would have been faced with a choice between two scenarios. As the push rods were not the correct length, the engine would not start or would have self destructed when it was up and running. Luckily, I'm an automotive veteran of over 30 years and I know how these motors should be set up from back in the day! It is time for COMP to rethink the engineering on this kit and to stop treating Pontiac motors like BBC drag engines. There is a difference between them! As a result of poor engineering, there is no telling how many Pontiac motors were killed. It makes me shiver to think about it. It would be great if the makers would give this kit another look and correct it. Using just the two flat and coil binding springs will give spring pressures of 140/340 if you leave out the flat, coil binding spring. This is still about 20lbs too high, but I think it It's important to choose a good oil for this recipe. Valvoline Racing High Zinc 20w50 is my oil of choice. I have never been let down by it in all these years. Moreover, the valves will not float at that pressure, not even at 6500RPM, and this is a good thing. You did mention it is a wicked cam, didn't you? As well as the lifters, they are made in the USA. Thank you for letting me know!.
