Questions & Answers

The weather gets warm, but how warm is it?

As long as your vehicle is warm enough to start, it will start The temperature is 20 degrees Fahrenheit

Are there thermostats built into this unit?

No, the thermostat is built into the plug. But you can cut the end off and wire an entirely new plug to bypass it.

Would this be a good substitute for a freeze plug?

This heater is not listed as a freeze plug block heater by the manufacturer. Those threads run directly into the engine block, so this heater is threaded in directly to it. Block heaters for freeze plug sockets fit directly into the frost plug port and are secured with a V-bolt This system allows you to lock your doors with just one hand.

What fits my 2018 Tahoe Z71 engine block heater?

Having the 5 will be useful to you in this case. Choosing 3 or 6 are the easiest options It will be powered by 2 DI motors

I like the fit of the jeans
3/5

I found this to be much better than the other brand I bought last year that you could not even plug in the plug to BREAKING UPDATE The week ended with a reading of The temperature here in Minnesota is 30 degrees. Neither the block heater nor the space heater worked. As I suspect it may be the thermister in the cord, I will cut off the plug like I did with my old heater cord with another truck and it has been working It is a serious problem that these people who manufacture block heaters do not take the thermisters out of the cords, as they fail far.

The thermostat has been set to come on at 0 degrees F
4/5

bought the heater with a cord-mounted thermostat, however I wish it had been set up to come on higher like in the 25-30 range instead of the 20-25 range. A range of 30 degrees. I made a mistake there. Most likely, I will just trim it off and put a new end on it. No clip or retainer is present on the end of the heater connected to the heating element. The issue now appears to be on some different models. The block drain plug on my 2007 Tahoe was so tight and seized in that I had to use an impact gun to install it. I had to remove the oil cooler lines and set them aside in order to use an impact. I quickly unthreaded the plug by hand once I spotted it moving and swapped it into the hole as soon as I had seen it move. This was faster than draining and filling, but you'll get coolant all over your body and up your shirt. After I had completed my work, I simply ran the truck and topped off You were probably going to drain it before hand anyway, so they weren't as dirty as you might have thought. I added some Teflon tape to it in addition to the thread sealer that came with it. It is recommended that you change the gasket as well when removing the oil lines.

I used it for one year and it worked well
3/5

In the first winter after installation, this Zerostart engine block heater worked perfectly. Now, it hasn't been working since the second winter after installation. The temperature of the engine coolant was 10 degrees this morning with an outside temperature of 5 degrees when I connected my sensor reader to the OBD II connector. The temperature in my other vehicle was 79 degrees with the heater that was already installed in it, which this car does not have. In the past 2 weeks I had changed the alternator, so I removed the plug from the coil to inspect, and there was no problem. I added some dielectric grease and plugged it Still no luck as it does not It might be worth getting the replacement cord if I can track it down. Even though I will need to separate the Alternator again, it won't be as big of a deal as installing this for.

Heater for blocks of wood of high quality
5/5

I like this product. It fits nicely. As a result of my application being too short, an extension had to be spliced in. Turns out there's a cheaper version that doesn't have the thermostat cord for $20 less than this one. Had I known about that before I bought this one, I wouldn't have had to cut the plug anyway.

I love how the cover integrates with the plug and how that fits much better
5/5

In two months I burned out my Katz block heater that I used in my 2011 GMC Canyon SLE V8. In addition to the flatter fit, these have an integrated plug cover that makes them much more convenient to use. If you wanted the Katz heater, you had to buy it separately, and it was a horrible Additionally, the plug that goes into the block heater is much more convenient to use.
