Questions & Answers

Is there a power cord included with this block heater?

there is a power cord included.

There seems to be a better way to reach the rear freeze plug on the left. If it worked there, how well would it work?

The freeze plug was installed in my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ in one of the top left freeze plugs. I'm not totally sure which one, but I believe it was near the front of the engine. The one I could see best was the one I chose. It might have been easier to access if I had removed the air filter box. By using a chisel on the plug's side (on the side of the plug) I was able to knock it out fairly quickly. There is a hammer and a nail You could probably get the same results with a long screwdriver. As soon as I was able to grab the opposite edge with my vice grips, I grabbed it with a magnet. Be gentle when removing it so that the plug doesn't get knocked into the engine. When the plug gets knocked into the engine, it's there for good so be careful. I was able to easily install the Zerostart once I removed the plug.

Is this plug intended to be installed in what freeze plug? There is an AMC 4 in my possession. How many two-core Intel i6s are there?

My engine block heater is the same as the one I installed earlier. According to the instructions, it should be installed at the last freeze plug location toward the rear of the engine. A down pipe can therefore be installed there, allowing for clearance from exhaust down pipes. In order to install toward the front, I would imagine the power steering pump will have to be temporarily removed ( if equipped ) and reinstalled after block heater installation. In handling this, I followed the directions from the vendor and installed it towards the rearmost freeze plug location as advised for an inline six cylinder engine.

Are there connector covers included with this kit to protect the connectors when you are not using Can you make a cord that plugs into the heater and one that goes to the heater?

In order to keep the heater operating throughout the year, the cord needs to be plugged in. There are rounds. There is a cap included with the kit for the plug end, however

Simple to use and easy to install
5/5

Recent cold weather had forced me to mount the oil pan heater to the pan with a magnet since the temperature was in the single digits or below zero Fahrenheit. I purchased and installed this engine block heater because it was quite a chore crawling under my car each night to turn on the Despite the difficulty of setting it up, it was fairly simple. In addition to flushing and filling the cooling system, there was also a lot of work involved. It was rather simple to install the heater. My Jeep's air filter box only needed to be removed and I was able to install the heater by removing the freeze plug from the air filter box. It starts immediately and my car is warm in a few minutes. I plug in the heater to a timer to do this in the morning before I leave. It takes about three hours for it to heat up and the engine starts immediately. Especially if you are handy with auto repairs, this heater is a great option.

It works like a charm! I expected it to work perfectly

I found it challenging to install the #1 freeze plug in my 04 Wrangler TJ because the PS pump and AC compressor are positioned over it. As long as the compressor remained in place, I was able to move the PS pump out of the way, remove the rear AC bracket, and install the heater. It took us about 3 hours from start to finish. As for the reviewer who said the bolt leaked- that was due to overtightening. The tip- Use plumbers silicone grease to coat the block and oring, which will assist in pushing the heater into the wall. A 30" long screwdriver was used to push it in place. Then I tightened the screw with my other hand and scraped a few knuckles. A lot quicker than removing the compressor, for sure. My heater is plugged into a timer, and it is set to heat at four My departure for work is at 00am, so it's warm when I arrive.

I love this block heater, it does what it has to do A bolt had been stripped while being tightened
3/5

Heater from Zerostart that works well and warmed up the car to a pleasing temperature A timer will be used to start the unit in the morning.

One problem was the tie-in of the external power supply to the controller. I had to use a small wrench to tighten the anchor because the down bolt became stripped. A bolt never gain enough tension to pull its threads, it simply ripped the threads out. The problem was that the bolt was of poor quality or made of poor material. I used a stainless steel M5x0 bolt. The number 8 should be put I was satisfied with the results. In order to correct the issue, I am in contact with ZeroStart.

The room warms up quickly
5/5

Unlike pan and hose heaters, this one is much better. It was easy to install because I punched the freeze cap all the way in instead of just trying to lift any part of it As on the Cherokee 4, that was fine. I have no illusions that it will fall down into anything (at least, it did not seem that way). You can pull it out easily by using lock pliers on it. When I turn on the device after it has been sitting overnight in 20 f temperatures for an hour and the thermostat is already at 150 f, the temperature gauge already reads 150 f. That's a much more pleasant way to start the day.

A heater that heats the engine block
5/5

Heating an engine up is an inexpensive way to make it easier to start and ensure it does not wear out quickly. The price is right too. It is very easy to install the core once the plug has been removed. Following that, all you have to do is plug it in and it works. The perfect solution to hard starts on very cold days, pre-heated for more warmth and defrosting upon demand.

Yes, it is
4/5

Jeep Cherokee classic 4 with airbags, power windows, and cruise control. I expect the securing screw will not break and is much bulkier than the factory screw, I can't find leaking from sides or screw head, and the installation was quick and easy. I cannot give it a test run because I have no idea if it actually works. As I live in a warm climate, I'd like to be able to use this piece instead of my factory block heater. In order to secure the screw, a thin piece of metal was bent into place and screwed. It's corroded and broken in half, but it can do the job if you need it, so buy it if you need.
