I have been using this system for a couple of years and I find it to be the most economical way to seal a thermostat housing. You do have to use the correct housing, one that has the channel for the O ring. According to the product packaging for the thermostat housing, I was under the impression that they were reusable, but the O ring will not seal if they are reused- Which is the exact reasoning I bought these replacements, and the reason this product does not get a perfect 5 star rating. It is not necessary to use messy RTV or cross fingers that both surfaces are If you're replacing an intake or housing, make sure not to remove any RTV or gasket material. It is simply a matter of pulling out the old O ring and pressing.
