Questions & Answers
That transmission does not seem to be compatible with this. This is an automatic transmission fluid designed for heavy-duty use. It is suggested that you consult your owner's manual to determine the proper fluid.
Allison has given her approval to this oil. Within 50 or 100 miles, you should probably flush the system by replacing it twice. I bought two cases (8 gallons) and changed it twice, the second time with a new spin on filter, and I still have about 3 gallons left, which is enough for another change. After conducting extensive research, I arrived at this conclusion. Simply drain the oil and re-inject the same amount to get it close, then double-check with the dipstick. br>The reason for the double change is that it was most likely filled with Dexron 6, and older Allison transmissions lack compatible seals and O-rings. When I first got mine, it was only $26 per gallon, and when I went to buy more, I was taken aback by the price.
It was for my Allison transmission that I purchased this trans fluid. It contains the ingredients specified by the manufacturer in their recipe.

This is what I used in my Duramax with Allison 6 sp. It drives like new now that I've done the "double change"! br>Shifts are very fluid. It's a lot better than the previous fluid. br>You also get smooth shifting, whether it's hot or cold, and the fluid appears to be running cooler - Cooler by about 20 degrees. br>Excellent work. And, according to Allison's calculator (which you can find online), you can run 150k between changes if you run this stuff. br>It may cost more money, but it quickly pays for itself - The drain interval is longer in this case.
I only use this fluid in my Allison 1000 trans; it's similar to Transynd but much less expensive, and I replace it every 25,000 miles or two years. I also replace my external filter every 10,000 miles or once a year.
It's been running in my 2004 for a while now. 5 Silverado 3500 dually with Allison 1000 Transmission for a while now, no issues, seems to work fine, and looks great even after hard use.
I chose this fluid over the more expensive Transynd and I'm very happy with it. At 80k miles, my truck was having some difficult shifts, so I decided it was time to change the fluid. The shifts are buttery smooth, and during heavy load conditions, they dropped about 25 degrees. I'm going to use this fluid for the next service without a doubt!.
After changing the filter and draining the pan on my 6 speed Allison auto in a 06 Dmax, I could feel the transmission shift better and smoother within 10 miles of driving.
This is what I use for the ATF in my ZF 630 transmission on my boat. Yes, it's more expensive than Dexron III, but it's smoother and cooler to operate (especially with the trolling valve). Every 12 months, I replace it, and it is always clean and never smells burned. ATF transmissions with a high load capacity are ideal. CHECK TO SEE IF IT'S COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR TRANSMISSION BEFORE YOU USE IT.
Although it was quite expensive, it was the best oil for the job.
