Hose with an inner diameter of 388 would be best. Formerly a GM technician, I have installed hundreds of these types of coolers over the years. As soon as I remove the clamps, I am done. The screw clamps I have installed have failed too often. The auto parts store where I get my fuel system clamps sells them. There is no explanation as to why coolers ship with 11/32 hose instead of 3/8 hose. It would be better if there was more flexibility. Make sure the hose connections are not greased. Using hot soapy water, soak the end of the hose. My previous practice has been to always flush the cooler and lines before connecting the hoses. From the moment you take it out of the box, you can tell it's a high-quality For my application, it's going to be a good fit. In no way is this a pun, but I wanted AN fittings for a more secure, permanent look. It did not come with the two brass fittings that connect the hose to one of the AN flare fittings on the cooler, as shown in the picture. There is a small part of me that is Having to have additional fittings makes it impossible for me to use. It is possible that if there were an upside, it would have been that I wanted 90 degree fittings for a better fit and look, so the fittings pictured would have been discarded. The exact contents of the package I received are shown in the attached image.

A transmission cooler like this is very durable owing to its design and The item is very good. For the cooler connection, I did need to purchase a different fitting, but it was my fault for oversizing the supply line & the hose. The return lines are on the left.

The Hayden products I have used in the past have consistently been excellent values. This cooler is part of an industrial application, for which I ordered it. Occasionally I require parts to assist in cooling processes since I am a part-time fabricator. Even though I use it mostly "off-line" It's a "label" (not automotive. and I was highly satisfied with how well and easily it was assembled. Depending on the application, you can use bulkheads, barbed fittings, or other fittings when connecting the ports to the AN style fittings. There are all the mounting accessories and fittings needed to connect it to the cooler's ports, so it's ready to use from the get-go. Cooler is a relatively small one, but it is very efficient. I would not use this for a motor home, but I believe it would serve the purpose well in passenger vehicles or small pickup trucks. This is a very efficient cooler for a very good price. This coupled with the normally excellent experience you get when buying on Amazon makes it a five-star product. Please take note In fact, Hayden has a website that provides recommendations based on how heavy a load is. I might look for something a bit larger if I have to pull heavy loads.
