There is a difference between the mounting surfaces of the filter and This is awful. It leaks because the mounting surface of the oil filter is not normal to that of the axis of the oil filter. My oil filter blows prodigious amounts of oil whenever I run it. I've tried different brands of filters, and none quite do the trick.
To date, it works great however, I do not have a means to test whether the "thermostatic" feature is active or the adapter is switched on or off all the time Open means that something is not closed. The installation was done on a 2009 Toyota Tacoma, 4, with a 4x4. This was added only as an additional anti-wear measure for a 0L engine. I do not know the exact differences in temperatures, but this was only in place for the sake of longer oil life.
There were no brass hose fittings in the box, and the spring did not close when cold. A better way would be to install a coil spring type of HVAC thermostat rather than a bimetal one.
As an introductory review, I am giving 3 stars and will change my rating after a few months if there are no issues. While it seems very well made and finished, I have some questions about the thermostatic system, which appears to be not much more than a coiled spring like those found in older watches. A small hole serves as the bypass and is supposed to be blocked by the spring with heat. My interpretation may very well be wrong, and I hope I am, but it appears that this is not the most reliable system out there.
I really like this product. It fits well, has no leaks, and is very reasonable in.
