These things irritate me a lot. To replace this on my old Chevy, I almost used a regular hose barb. But, for reasons I'm sure I'll come to regret later, I decided to keep the quick connect style fitting for the heater hose that connects to the intake. Even as I write this review, I'm having trouble remembering why I didn't convert the heater hose to a standard hose clamp connection. Take a look at it. Dorman at least used better material than GM, so you have to give them credit for making a faulty design a little less annoying. Before I tore out the stock system and just installed a fitting and normal hose, I was very thankful these were offered on Amazon for a decent price. I broke the stock one, but a Dorman has never snapped on me.
This Dorman heater connector is made of a harder, more sold metal that feels like it will last a long time. In my opinion, this is a great purchase!.

When working on Chevrolet heater hoses from the 1990s, these heater adapters are a necessary evil. If you're lucky, your old one came out of the intake or water pump without breaking. If it breaks off in the water pump, you have the option of buying a new pump and adapter or using the special removal tool and hoping for the best; if it breaks off in the intake, you are at the mercy of the removal tool. They sell adapters to get rid of this item, and they use a standard hose barb, so all you have to do is switch to rubber hoses and get rid of the metal piece. However, because I don't want to mess up the factory lines on my rear-heated Suburban, I'm using one of these along with a new water pump. If you decide to switch away from one of these, make sure your adapter has the same restriction orifice as this one, which controls flow through the heater cores. br>br>Take a look at one of these for a minute; once you figure out how the clips come out, they're easy to remove, and new ones go together in a flash.
This is the part to use if you don't want to do a complete swap.
