Installing or replacing this unit is very simple.
Apparently Amazon's listing had a way to screen if it was suitable for your car at the top, although I have no idea how to do it.
I do not remember the product code, but I received the exact cap I ordered and there have been no issues at all

When the check engine light appeared on my 2008 Ram 1500 V8 HEMI SLT at 120k, I was concerned. P0456 (small emission leak) was detected on a scan. Based on research on the internet, a loose or faulty gas cap is the most common cause of this code. This OEM product is very easy to install. I bought it from Amazon and it took less than a minute to install. A perfect fit and match. As original, comes with plastic retaining strap for a secure fit. The plastic retainer on the gas cover can be pryed off with a screwdriver tip. The code has been erased and the light is now off, so the problem has been The check engine light might still come on after you install the new gas cap if you haven't got an engine reader to erase the code. You might try disconnecting the battery (negative terminal) for a few minutes and reconnecting it to see if that resets the light.
It fit perfectly, was filled with air, had the center hole drilled, etc As with the original cap, it has a tether mounted to it. Either the generic ones had no tether or the tether was in a different position than the original, which made closing the fuel door difficult. It's a lot less hassle and less expensive to get the Mopar one if you have a Dodge Ram. It turns out my gas cap had gotten old and the seal had worn out on the gas cap in my Ram. Since changing it out, there have been no problems.
This cap is great and seems to work. So far I have not had any evap codes after installing it. My old cap from AutoZone had evap codes after the first drive, but this one has not given me any. Here are photos of the cheap gas cap from AutoZone and this mopar one. There is a significant difference between them.
This is the perfect fit. Hopefully the check engine light will go out within a week or two. There is no scanner in my storage room. It was evident that the old cap did not have a good Greasing one up is something I've tried Despite a new cap, it was still needed. Trying to push the attachment line into the hole in the car body with a socket extension and sharp blow from a hammer. I have updated We used an interchangeable screwdriver hex end and a couple of sharp blows from a hammer. Attached to the body of the car is a leash. The following examples give an indication of the scale. The entire process took approximately 5 minutes, including tool selection, alignment, and considerations. It is exactly what was described. I am satisfied with it.
Do not buy this product. I only got 10 months of use from When I had the original MOPAR cap on my truck, it lasted more than 10 years. This cap lasted just 6 p. m. The following refills occurred during COVID time 8 during the week). There is no longer a seal, and therefore the Check Engine Light no longer blinks. Buy the STANT gas cap for 18. O'Reilly's has them for 18. It is in the 99th percentile The part number for this item is There is a double price tag on it, but when you first use it you will understand Exactly like the original Dodge parts, with a solid feel and tight seal. It was a mistake to order a poor quality part from Dodge Dealer online since the part is made by them.
My friend suggested that I replace my gas cap first when my check engine light came on on my 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with a "Evaporation system leak" code. This gas cap fit my truck perfectly and has a much tighter seal than my old one The best part is that the check engine light is no longer on! I am in love with it!.
OEM speaks volumes, that's for sure. My normal purchases of after market items are quite few, but with the gas cap light and throwing codes I decided to grab this product. We drove a couple of days and all codes had been Don't wait - buy it now.
During maintenance on my 2010 Dodge Ram truck, I noticed the code P0456. Having done some research, I have discovered that it could be an emissions code caused by a bad fuel cap related to the evap system. When I ordered the OEM Dodge cap, the code issue was resolved. However, swapping it out was super simple, and the price was not outrageous. It may not work for everyone else's code, as it did for mine. It was at least a new fuel cap so even if it didn't work I had it.
