Selected User Reviews For Dorman 970-024 Rear Center ABS Wheel Speed Sensor for Select Dodge Models, Black
The reason I am writing a review is because this product is so simple and easy to replace along with the savings you will get! Unless you are driving more than 20 miles per hour, the speedometer won't read. Easily fixed (20 minutes) but it took me longer to drop the spare tire. Once the spare tire is out - everything was fine. As the ABS sensor is located on the deferential, there is plenty of access. Then sprayed WD-40 on it A cleaning fee of $40 is required to clean the If you wish to remove the ABS sensor, you must use 3 different tools (flat crew driver, 9/16, 1/2 wrench or socket). The flat end of a screw driver to loosen the electrical connector (don't lift the tab too tightly or you will break the locking tab and will need to use electrical tape to hold the tab You can remove the first nuts holding the accessories lines using a 9/16 wrench. The flat end screw driver will need to be inserted under the ABS sensor at the same time while twisted and lifted with one hand. This should cause the ABS sensor to pop out without any problem. Install the new ABS sensor after the old one has been removed. (Think of using a little grease along the edge of the sensor As the sensor slides down(that's all I had)), there will be a small gap (very small) between it and the Start by reducing the torque gradually to take the space closer (start off slowly) Extruded grease will cover the sensor and it will be flush with the surface.
The following Cummins 2500 engines are 24 volts This ABS sensor can be directly replaced in the rear diff. This is the fifth edition of 2004. The following Cummins 2500 engines are 24 volts That ABS light was on the dash when I bought the truck, but it went away after cutting the wire. Although I was able to pry it out, if you aren't able to do so you'd have to remove the diff plate, so take care.
The price and the features of this part were factors in my decision compared to others. There is no aftermarket part that I found with a mirror image of the original factory part. By this, I mean that the electrical connection is on the wrong side. Some of the aftermarket parts had an extender, while An extender allows connecting the sensors more easily and if necessary, totally, without a problem. A stamp metal shielding protects the sensor on this part just as it does on the factor part, while some models do not. This sensor has been installed in my truck for 10 months as of the writing of this review and is still working well.
In my 1998 Dodge Durango, it took me only 20 minutes to replace the engine. If the sensor becomes difficult to remove, you may need to use pliers and a screwdriver. Observe the video from "jimthecarguy", a couple of times he mentions to take it easy and not break the sensor. My sensor was easily removed once I removed the nuts, and I was able to turn it back and forward to remove it.
I had a Dodge Durango that would only register speedometer needle movement when I reached a speed of 30 mph or more. In the aftermath, it ceased to operate or operated only when it felt like it. As a result of our investigation, we found that it was an ABS sensor in the rear. The differential pumpkin I have is mounted directly over the rear differential. Using three nuts, remove the old ABS sensor and replace it with the new one. Now that the speedometer is working the way it should, the issue has been resolved. Since if that were the case and mine was replaced with a new ABS sensor, I would not like to do it twice.
In my case, the ABS and brake lights were both on and it took some investigation to find that the rear speed sensor was to blame. It is a new one I bought because the previous one had worn out. There was a power outage. The software would get 5 stars if it weren't brand new, so I wanted to give it a chance to work for a while before rating it. It's a bit hard to remove the old one part of the end cap broke off and remained in the old one. By going in circles around it and punching with a flat punch, I was able to get it out. told, the process of changing clothes took about 15 minutes. It's hard to beat that price. Locally, good parts shops wanted between 30 and 45 dollars for those parts.
No pigtail extender was required. ABS/Brake lights are now off and speedometer readings are correctly displayed. Also, the Check Engine light has been turned off. It is now time for an instrument cluster to function properly.
