My name is Jose. Thank you for reaching out. There is an antidote to everything It is inevitable that after repeated use, the rust coating around the disc braking area will wear off. There will be an increase in traffic and this is normal. It will not affect the parts of the rotor such as the hat, vents, and other areas of the rotor that do not come into contact with the pads. If your vehicle was left stationary or exposed to the elements for a long period of time, rust will eventually build up around the braking surface of the rotors. You can scrape off this build up of rust by keeping your vehicle in motion and letting the brake pads clean the rust off the braking surfaces as soon as you put the vehicle in motion. I am happy with how things are going so far. Occasionally there's some squeaking after a few months, but that could have been due to the fact that I didn't use enough paste. The hinges feel good and look good, too. The Ford Explorer I own is the 2014 model
