It is evident from reading the comments that several others have noted the drums are After installing these drums, I experienced wheels that wobbled at even low speeds when I spun the tires by hand. For me, the issue was the balance weights in the drums were interfering with the large 7 gauge. On my AR23 15" wheels, I have hubs with a diameter of 5". There are balance weights at the bottom of the drum/wheel mounting area, and the hubs of the wheel Here are a few photos to give you an idea. Consequently, the wheels are not mounted flat to the drums. These AC Delco drums may work with stock or aftermarket wheels, but be sure to measure your wheel hub diameter on the inside of the wheel before purchasing these. If the diameter is greater than 6", reconsider purchasing these drums. I was sent two more drums with the same issue by AC Delco and Amazon representatives who did not seem to have understood the When the weights are attached correctly to the wheels, these look like they were made in China, either because the quality of manufacturing is poor or some bonehead designer failed to take the wheel size into consideration. It's not visible from the top, but my original 1992 Wrangler drums have a miniature balance weight The other suppliers have not be able to offer me information about how their parts are made. Crown/Omix ada are not able to give me a definitive answer. As of August 2015, Crown said they sold 150 of these a month, but the number of returns is unknown. I wish everyone else who runs into this issue the best of luck.
I purchased these two drums for my 1991 Jeep Wrangler in order to fully refresh the rear brakes on that vehicle. Boxes containing drums were used to store them. There were plastic bags in each of the drums inside the box. My first impression was that the drum was covered in oil when I removed it from the bag. The drums are sold exactly like this at an auto parts store. When compared to the original drums, the maximum dimensions were stamped on the inside edge as opposed to the drums that were cast into the face. Another thing that struck me was one drum had extra weight attached to the face of it Also from amazon, I bought the wagner brake shoes and the Raybestos brake spring kit that I needed to install these drums. It was easy to install the drums. To fit the rear shoes on the drum, I only had to adjust the adjuster a few clicks to make sure they Having driven these drums for two weeks, they seem to be working well.
The installation went perfectly - thanks This works great for me. A pair of these can be found at Amazon Warehouse Damaged or open I bought the subscription box) deal for a significant discount and read the reviews that said they come preloaded with software It seemed like they were warped half the time. So I asked my friend to check them on his brake lathe, have them turned to correct minor warping if needed, and send them back if they were horrible. In the end, both drums are in great repair and have been mounted on the Jeep for a week now. I am happy to make this purchase! 1995 Jeep Grand.
I replaced the OEM drums with these drums, which fit perfectly on my truck, took the paint well after I covered them in self-etching primer, didn't have any distortions or warping during installation, and appear to be comparable to if not better than the OEM drums. The factory drums lasted over 250K miles before needing to be replaced, so I doubt I'll have to do this on this Jeep again. Then and now. The rear end was up in the air, so it could have been the perfect time to change the axle seals. I would do this only if I felt like messing with the differential and buying new gear oil. As a result, I did not. Even so, they are nice parts for a good price and I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again if I needed them.
The shoes I installed in them when they arrived were brand new. A thorough cleaning was performed on all of the hardware and the backing plate. Ensure the appropriate amounts of brake grease are applied. Once they've been on for a while, they'll be able to tell you all about it A squeak sounds. As to why the drums were not turned, I put the blame on myself.
They have an awful The only problem is that I hastened through the work and am now unsatisfied. Taking on a big name for a change This ACDelco 18B251 Professional Rear Brake Drum Assembly is for sale at Amazon. com My first thought was to use the drums right out of the box, and if I failed it would be my fault. I'm sorry, I messed up. Can I never purchase ACDelco in the future? Why do you always buy auto parts from Amazon when you could get them elsewhere? There is nothing more I hate to do than to have to redo a brake job that was done two months ago.
Drums are sold separately, like shoes. Shoes are sold as a set, but drums are sold alone. Be sure not to make the same mistake as me. I ordered a pair of brake drums. They showed black in the photos, but they were actually gray. The box was very thinly padded and had no protective covering. I am grateful for everything that is going well. am now going to prime and paint my single hub after the heat has been applied. It would be nice if the parts store had a drum on hand. You have no time to place another order.
In fact, they weren't which caused my right rear to lock up since new and it had never occurred to me it was the brake components inside. Today, I had the brakes checked at a local auto parts store and realized they were warped since the purchase. I'd rather spend my money on something else.
I got it delivered in one day and at a great price! I saved over $30 by purchasing There was nothing wrong with it at all and I scored a brand name drum at a discount of roughly 65%!.
