Questions & Answers

How many colors are there in the tubes/barrels? Is it normal to see both black and yellow in customer photos?

To match my trailer, I painted mine a black color. They're yellow. This color is better than Yellow in my opinion.

Is there a maximum distance that the cables can travel?

A distance of 4 feet separates us from each other.

Are there two lifts included in one purchase or do I need to buy one for each side?

They come in twos. It is possible to lift a tailgate if it is light. Both were required in my case.

I have a pipe rail trailer and I don't know whether I need to buy bolts or whether it comes with them. Please tell me how many bolts I need in what size. Can you please tell me how to measure my pipe?

All the equipment necessary for installing the lift gate will be included with the gate.

I'm so glad this back saver exists! I am very pleased with this! The only thing I would have liked is to see black powder coat offered by Gorilla
5/5

Prior to installation on a tube top PJ trailer with a 24" side, Gloss Black Rustoleum was slathered onto it. Unless you install 1/8" from the end of the rail or tube as per the instructions, the cable may rub on the top of the rail or tube as shown in the pic. I think it won't be a problem in the long term with some grease since it barely touches the base of my install. It was not possible to install the PJ tube top after the carriage bolts were supplied. To make it work, I had to purchase 1/2" longer carriage bolts at the hardware store. You will also have to buy nuts if you purchase SAE thread carriage bolts because all hardware is metric. The last option is to close off the tube fronts with 2"x2" black plastic square plugs. A great product and a great back saver if you only lift it with one hand!.

I compared the new lift to my old back-breaking lift and it only required one finger
5/5

A CPA by profession, I am neither an enthusiast nor an enthusiast of garages. The purpose of buying these was to stop breaking my back on the tailgate of my tandem axle trailer. I saw them online for awhile before deciding to give them a chance. Moreover, I had two more support beams weld in on the trailer gate since I do drive tractors on it. I agree that these extra support beams are great except that it takes about 150 pounds to lift the trailer gate. The parts are not overly numerous out of the box. Step one Do not leave the springs or cable in the tubes while you mark where the holes need to be drilled. This is not disclosed to the consumer and has caused me a headache without any benefit. As you are drilling into steel from your trailer, marking the tubes for drilling is easy, but drilling the holes is a little tough. The first bit I started with was a small bit, then I went up a couple sizes, and finally got to the final half inch. When you approach the 1/2 drill, slow down. Once through, it turned the drill and almost broke my wrist, so when you are close to being through, be careful. As far as directions are concerned, they are pretty straight forward. When doing the four little rollers, look at the illustrations atop the last page, the directions are confusing, but the pictures make it pretty clear. Taking me about 2 1/2 hours to install, but I doubt I'd need more than 45 minutes to complete the next one. My only question would be, once I have completed this, how will I proceed? My order has been sitting here for so long! It is a purchase that you will not regret.

This is a great addition and I really like it, but it needs more engineering
4/5

As shown in the picture, I have a tilt-gate trailer, except it has two gates instead of three Top rails should be round tubular tubing with an outside diameter of 7/16" instead of * * The yellow spring housings are packaged in two pieces so the shipping box can be cut down. Each of the tubes needs two bolts, one for the butt and one for the bolt down.

Contrary to what one might expect, the two yellow tubes are not aligned. As a result, flattening Rails consisting of round tubular shapes are held precariously in place by square tubes with square bottoms. Through the mounting rails, you are instructed to drill oversized holes. As a consequence, you can adjust the position of the square tubes before tightening them down, but they are also allowed to move slightly so as to absorb any housing tubes of the yellow spring can become misaligned after a while. If that occurs, the long garage door may not work. The springs inside the housing are misaligned and hang up on the edges of the tube in the middle while "boing" as they fall. *They should have welded ears onto the tubes that help the tubes to stay in alignment after installation, or have hinges on them that help the tubes to stay in alignment mechanically. You should also be aware that the metric bolts are all used. There's a 5/16-inch diameter carriage bolt on those wheels There are no 18 threads in the instructions, and they state as such in the instructions. This is what we see when we enter the gate There are a couple of 1/2-inch bolts mounting the bracket They should be 13, but they aren't. In addition, the carriage bolts supplied are not long enough to pass through my two-inch holes in my carriage Top rails made of 7/16" tubing. (I did not want the carriage bolts to rust) So I bought eight new galvanized carriage bolts. When I discovered these threads were not SAE, I was horrified. It was impossible to fit the nuts supplied with the kit. It is one of the advantages with this type of trailer that you can fold the gate forward onto the bed to put it out of the wind, as a result of which there is significantly less drag and higher fuel efficiency. They will be employed permanently if you do Due to the attached cable system and its 6" long metric 1/2" bolts, you will not be able to fold the gate inward, It is too wide to fit inward when bolted down. If you look at the pictures, you will see that I rigged up a different system that uses shorter, custom-made bolts. Make a 1/2-inch cut The threaded rod measures 13 inches long, has lock nuts, washers, and a trailer It allows me to fold the gate inward during return highway trips, even when empty or lightly loaded, without the hassle of using the cables. Having both the best of both worlds now makes my life much easier This is a simple way to Several types of gates are available, including a lifting gate and an inwardly folding I will conclude with a few words about do not know how big or heavy your ramp is, it's a bad idea to throw them a curve There are two coaxial springs that are really strong that come with the gate. As a standard, there are two springs, one inside the other, one on each side. As a result, you have the option of choosing five spring combinations. This is *br1. If your gate weighs a lot, you'll probably need both inner and outer springs. Observation 2. In the case of heavy gates, both outer springs (no inner springs) must be installed if the gate will open. 1. 2. 3. If the gate is a little lighter, you can use only one outer spring on one side and both inner and outer springs on the other side. The fourth paragraph. A pair of inner springs on one side, a pair of outer springs on the other.
5. On both sides, there is an inner spring. The gate is tested using a variety of combinations and S hooks until it feels balanced as you like. There is a problem in order to separate the springs to use only the inner spring, cutting the outer spring's loop is necessary. The larger outer spring must be removed from You could change your mind at any time, but the spring becomes unusable almost immediately. The print version is a bit confusing. Make sure you weigh your combinations before cutting them. In their original boxes, the cable can be attached to 1) both springs or 2) the larger spring on each side, depending on the box. There is no way to attach to the smaller, inner spring without the bigger, outer spring as well. Since my gate is fairly light, it was sufficient to use a single inner spring on one side and an outer spring on the other side of the gate. I made sure to remove the large outer spring first, using To cut the spring, you will probably need an extremely large bolt cutter or perhaps a hacksaw. Spring steel, on the other hand, is exceptionally A hacksaw may work, but I am not entirely sure. In any case, now that the gate is balanced fairly well, I can pick it up with my toe and it moves gently into the position where it's ready to be locked. It's a very handy tool.

There may be some work to do
3/5

With it, you can easily lift the tailgate and it does its job quite well. This installation was actually quite labor intensive for my trailer and took a lot of time Each side of the trailer is made up of two parts of the yellow main body. All players must line up flat and facing each other. This is mainly due to the fact that they only provide two holes for mounting each piece, however, that may not be the ideal location. The location was unusable for me (so that I could insert 2x4 vertically as a sidewall) since there was no empty space there. It cannot be drill new holes because it needs to be square so there is more room to put the carriage bolt in. It needs to be provided! It would have been nice to have a pattern for those holes on a piece of paper. There is also the issue of spring adjustment. Currently, the only adjustment is to use two springs (a light one and a heavy one) or one spring per side, and it takes time to adjust. Due to the lack of proper lift on any of the combinations, I had to drill additional holes in the gate to raise it. There are some modifications required, and it may not work for some tailgates as it is. However, it works well now, though it took some time. If it could be made a little bit easier to install, that would be great.
