The tailgate piece is bolted to both sides of the truck, as well as the piece that mounts to the truck. Their quality was better than what was originally intended. The set is installed on our 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 extended cab. The 4x4 in my cab is still working perfectly.
It is not clear whether a GMC exists. I couldn't get it to fit my Chevy 2004 2500HD extended cab, but it fit. It is 6 ft wide and 6 ft long. I thought it would be a perfect match
I am sorry, but this does not fit.

The hinges on my tail gate finally rusted through, and the gate fell off. It looks like the replacements will last longer since the studs are not hollow like the OEM ones. A wire brush was used to remove the rust and rust primer, enamel paint and rust mort were applied. Also, I primed and painted the hinges and smeared lithium grease on them before installing them. Even though I could have reused the old bolts, I decided to replace them. Make sure the screws are tightened down to at least 30 ft lbs with blue thread locker. Please do not re-use the shims that are behind the OEM hinges either. However, the hinge plates are the same thickness as the old ones, but the new hinge stud sticks out more, so they no longer require shimming under the plates.
I ordered them since Amazon had them in stock, and were cheaper than any auto parts stores in my area. I could have achieved the same effect in about 15 minutes had I used anti-rust spray on both surfaces I painted the bolt holes with anti-rust paint, then cleaned and treated the slightly rusted holes with zinc anti-rust paint Do not install the shim behind the new hinge as another customer reviewed doing so caused the hinge to seize. I purchased the Dorman hinge assembly for my vehicle. I took out my WD-S eventhough I had to come back to a WD-S The bolts on the tailgate were inside the vent hole since they were mounted before the truck was manufactured. Spray 40 inside the vent hole and tap off. Compared to the OEM, the replacement hinges fit just like the factory one, but they are a lot bigger. It was only one mounting bolt that broke off on the bottom of the tailgate, which I tacked in place using my welder. As the original was in place for 14 years, I'll never need to replace them again for as long as my truck lasts. *** If any adjustments need to be made, make sure you use some sort of lubricant when replacing the bolts. This product performed well for the price paid and came with a good warranty All new replacement parts have been very satisfactory to me. Put some grease on the surfaces of the parts you plan to.
It doesn't work properly on the right side of my right side tailgate hinge after I installed the tailgate hinges. Having lowered the tailgate and raised it back up again one can see that the oval shaped bracket is too large and the C-shaped bracket is too small. With an oval shaped piece in the middle, the hinge does not fit correctly, forcing it out and preventing a proper closure of the tailgate. I'm not satisfied with it as it stands. No adjustments can be made to the bracket installation in order to make it work. The least I can say is that I'm.
Although these bolt on and fit right into the spot, the tailgate does not sit quite right and rubs against the side of the quarter panel on the backside of the truck just above the bumper on its left bottom corner. A simple hinge replacement is all that is required. On the driver's side, there is a shim between the body and the lower hinge. Some reviews say it should not be used, but I tried it both ways and the side to side play was gone with the shim. New cables, hinges, and small rubber bushings were bought, along with new cables and hinges. There was a bent hinge on one side of the truck when I purchased it.
The set I have now is my second set (2 different trucks), and I recommend it to anyone looking for a set that is solid and has no hollow spots like the factory one. For anyone looking to replace theirs, we recommend using a pensating spray at least two hours prior to replacing. It took me a while to snap one of the bolt heads.
