In order to prevent back pain, I would open the latch and have the latch slam open and bounce to a halt, waking the neighbors. The entire process has become buttery smooth now. Even though it is not an assist with closing, it smoothes out that movement as well and I find it easier to use. As a result, I am able to close it with one hand without it dropping halfway open again since when I'm lifting, I release pressure, change position, and close it without it dropping halfway It would have been wonderful if I had it from the beginning! My review is mainly a description of how well it fits and how it was installed. It appears there is a good chance it will fit my 2004 Dodge 3500, based on the package. First of all, there is a It is easy to install the lower ball mount for the shock unit by drilling a hole close to the pivot point. They use an anchor that flares out behind like a drywall anchor because they don't have a threaded hole. There is VERY clear instructions explaining that you set it with a 3/4" gap (if you look at the instructions, you will understand) and then you only turn the nut 9 times with the center screw attached. As a result, I didn't see any changes. The thing floated about, and I actually was able to pull it out the same way it was inserted. As I read through other reviews, I found that others had to turn it a lot or set the gap to 1/2". It held perfectly when I set the new corrected gap.

Now I will tell you this If you are lucky enough to find one that fits your tailgate, and if you are lucky enough not to scratch your tailgate, I think I like to see so easily how the tailgate goes down when I drop it. I recently purchased a truck new that never get into a public parking lot and was never wrecked. There aren't any tweaks to the tailgate or issues with it being off-center - I do not have any issues with it being off-center. Plus, I checked it to ensure it was accurate. If I didn't want to ruin the tailgate, it would not close at all with this installed. In this situation, my only options are either to return it (pain in the ear), drill out the lower mounting (bigger pain in the ear) or try to slightly dent/bend the shock head and upper section enough to clear the tailgate and still function as designed. It is a shame how an inept engineer would waste such a great idea, as would an inept customer service department and an organization that flagrantly does not value its.

Having reviewed the photos as well as other sources, I have come to the conclusion that there is something According to my research, the Dodge Ram occasionally has a problem with the tailgate assist, but it also doesn't always have one.
