Please forgive me for not knowing what year your truck is. Nevertheless, I can tell you that it didn't work with my 2006 GMC 2500 despite their claims. The mounting bolt for the pneumatic tube did not clear the opening of the side panel, but it might have if I had not cared about scraping paint off. Yet I believe that they are telling the truth in this case.
GMC and Chevy trucks older than a decade old are not eligible. On Dee Zee's website, you can find out which one is compatible with the newer models.

Take a look at what I have to say. It is true that the product works as advertised, however, I am concerned with the directions. Reading other product reviews helped me decide which product to purchase. Someone said the truck was scratched up by it. As I installed the device according to the instructions, I took care to gently close the tailgate and look at it as it closed. The big round flat washer makes that top bolt stick out too far on my model due to the big round flat washer. Chevrolet Silverado 2006. The large flat washer was simply removed and the bolt reinstalled, and the bolt cleared enough for me to close the tailgate without rubbing/scratching Those were just words of experience I wanted to share with That's all I have for now.
According to the reviews of others on this product, I also had the same experience. There were other washers that would fit the top post apart from the large, thick washer provided for it. I had some washers left over from another project (as pictured) that fit the top post so I used those. My nylon nuts were not overtightened due to clear space issues. Additionally, the instructions I received specifically indicated not to over tighten the nylon nuts on the last step. No, I did not overtighten the screws. As I opened and closed the tailgate on my 2005 Silverado 1500 WT several times, I noticed a problem. I did not run into clearance issues, the tailgate opened slowly using the piston to propel it. I could see that the piston was able to move slightly as needed, verifying that I did not overtighten the nylon nuts. As a result of the feedback for this product and the fact that I have used other Dee Zee products without issue on my trucks, I decided to rate this product In my opinion, an 8 out of 10 is a 5 out of 10.

nbsp The reason I am giving this product 1 star is because it does not work with the make and model stated on the label (2007 GMC Sierra 2500hd Classic). Having used this product for years, I know that it works well with other brands and models. Seeing the video, I was looking forward to mine. The bolts on the tailgate are too long and scratch the interior - There is also no point in tightening the top nut all the way because then the parts won't work While they are loose enough to let he parts move freely, they are too loose to be acceptable. I could be just having a bad day. We wish the rest of the world a better outcome.
For my 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD Classic, I purchased this. On my truck, there were all kinds of clearance issues. Both top and bottom of the shock had clearance issues. Both studs and both nuts had to be ground down at least 1/6". On top of that, the washer mounted to the bed of the truck had to be thinner. An installation that was supposed to take ten minutes ended up taking an hour and ten minutes. In spite all the work, I was very disappointed when I saw the difference between before and after. It does not slow down the lift gate It may work on other trucks, but I wouldn't recommend it for trucks manufactured in 1999 or after This classic GMC or Chevy truck is from the year 2007.

Tailgate assist device for truck Dee Zee DZ43100. The body cladding on my 2002 Chevy Avalance Z66 is missing. There are reviews that say this will work, and there are reviews that say this won't. Due to an incomplete listing in the application guide for this product, I had to try it out for myself, since it does not appear to be compatible with the car in question. I found the software to be easy to set up and very effective. Excellent instructions (with color photos to guide you step by step). Installing the bracket was the most challenging part of the process on my vehicle because of the bolt by the tailgate pivot. I don't think the bolt can come all the way out because I have body cladding on my vehicle. problem was resolved following the removal of a phillips screw in the body cladding and pulling the metal back far enough to allow the bolt to come out of its socket. There were two clippings that fell out of their holes when clipping the cladding side back together however, they snapped right back in after the cladding had been back in place. It took about ten minutes to complete this process, even though it sounded complicated, and most of that time was spent trying to figure out how to do it. Two minutes is about the length of time it would take if I did another. There is also a suggestion to use two of these (one for each side) on the Avalanche because the tailgate is so Currently, the one that we installed seems to keep it from slamming down when it reaches the end of travel. With it installed, the heavy tailgate of my Avalanche opens and closes solidly when opened, and does not require any cushioning by my arm. Adding this feature to my Avalanche has been a great experience for me. I give this product five stars because of its instructions, ease of installation, and good quality.
