As long as you put the cap on snugly when mounting it, it should work, but only slightly.

The tailgate cap is an ordinary piece of hardware. Bushwacker, a company that produces bed side rails for Amazon, sells them. Each looks great, and I'm very pleased!

I found the installation to be extremely challenging. This product is excellent in terms of quality and appearance. Getting the cap on straight and centered takes careful measurement, but you can make it look sharp if you take your time and do it properly. There's nothing I don't like about this product, and it's really sharp and sleek. It is impossible to tell that it was not professionally installed by looking at it. Although I can't give it five stars, it was still very good. The following reasons are to be considered First of all, it doesn't extend quite far enough to cover the holes in the tailgate for the OEM cap. Quite simply, you need to press down very hard when you put this on so it covers the earphone wires. However, it is by a razor-thin margin. Errors in this process are not tolerated. When I put on my cap, I thought there was no problem, but when looking at it from below (like, when putting your head on the bumper), I noticed that one of the holes wasn't quite closed. The RTV silicone gasket in black - It came together with a bit of patience and a mask (mask the paint first). No one will ever be able to tell that there was a repair. But is that really the case? Adding just a bit of depth would make a big difference If you have an eighth-inch of space, you'll still be able to work A solution to that problem would have been ideal. My fault should not be to make up for a design oversight. A second option is to attach the cap with 3M double size tape to the tailgate Applied to the face of the You are instructed to slowly pull the protective backing out of the way until you can reach it, then pull off the rest of the backing while pressing the cap on. The problem is There is a seam in the tape. There was an attempt on the part of the cap manufacturer to address this issue, but it failed. In other words, it was a complete After crossing the tape seam, it was incredibly difficult to start peeling the protective backing again. It takes two people as well as a high intensity light and tweezers to pick at the backing. Think of a maximum muscular effort involved, two people working, an opening more than 20 feet, and two people lifting. We've got it back up and running. As far as I know, the cap is firmly attached and there shouldn't be any problems. It was hugely frustrating, to say the least. I believe that if the cap were to come down the outside of the tailgate just a little bit further, and avoiding seams in the tape, this product would be excellent, and transformation of the challenging installation into a very simple one would be possible.
It looks nice, but you can see that it has three holes! I would love to keep it, but you can really see the holes! This is the correct model for my truck based on the information on Bushwacker's website. Having called Bushwacker, they acknowledged the problem, however, they do not have a protector that extends further down the rear of the vehicle. The surface of the tailgate facing the road.
The reviews mention how this does not cover the holes left by the tailgate fin that comes standard on most vehicles. As long as the cap is actually fitted properly, this one fits just fine. It will be difficult to install the item if you simply pull the adhesive covers off while fitting. Strong and quick adhesion is provided by that adhesive. Take the time to place the cap before pulling the adhesion stickers and the cap will fit over the holes just fine.
As it is not the same dimensions as the OEM one, it does not sit as low, so if you have blemishes along the line where the factory one was, they will be more noticeable. Since I only had myself, installing was a challenge. There would probably be a better installation if there were two of us. Attempting to get it to stay centered and flush, I ran into a sticky problem. One of the sides of the double stick tape would not release and I couldn't get it to stay centered. Although it's not worth as much as they charge, it's still.
Buying this tailgate cap along with new bed rail covers with diamond tread patterns for my 2001 GMC Sierra was a good decision. I did not think the tailgate cap needed to be replaced when I bought the truck new it had one from the dealership when it was new, but I wanted it The cover covered the bolt holes in the tailgate, which I thought it wasn't going to be able to do. It's quite easy to install this cover if you take your time and are meticulous about how you put the double-sided tape on the cover. At a great price, this is an excellent product.
On my 2001 Silverado the OEM plastic tailgate cap needed to be replaced. I have no complaints about the appearance or the ease of installing this. It isn't using the OEM bolt holes rather it uses 3M tape however, the tape fit well and was easy to put on.
My 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab handled the wheels very well. Only one problem that I noticed was that under the old tailgate cap which was not visible, my tailgate had been bent by the previous owner. As soon as I tried to install it, it wouldn't fit flush on top and then did not go down far enough on one side to cover the OEM holes for the I don't think this product is at fault in the slightest.
Definitely The comments I receive about them have been very positive! This experience has been very satisfying to me.
You only need to follow instructions to set it up. The only complaint is there are raised parts where the original factory cap's bolt holes are visible.
