Yes, it was effective for my 2008 Silverado.
I'm not sure, it works fine in my 2011 Silverado, but I'm not sure about the 2013 Malibu. If you can obtain the part number from the dealer and compare it to the number on this unit, you might be able to provide us with some information.
I'm not sure who made it because there was no name on the box; I'm sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.
Greenish blue in color.

The final straw came when one of my granddaughters asked if she could roll down one of the back windows because it was getting hot in there. I said "sure," not expecting it to roll back up again, but dang if it didn't die completely rolled down in the middle of a rainy week. So, since it had worked long enough to roll the window down and there was no sound indicating the regulator motor was going out, I assumed it was the master and rear right window switches that were out, and I immediately ordered the master switch and the rear driver's side switches. It took me about 20 minutes to remove and replace both, and I was able to get all of my truck windows back to working order. Wow, I fixed something that would have cost at least a couple hundred dollars in parts and labor if it had been done by a mechanic for less than $30.
My card was a Saturn Outlook from 2008. I purchased a tool kit to remove door panels and other items. But I didn't need them because there's a handy detent at the bottom of the door that allows you to leverage out the door panel with a standard screwdriver. I recommend removing the entire panel to make it easier to remove the old master switch and replace it with the new one. One thing to keep in mind is that the replacement switch's backlighting is blue. Unlike the rest of the cockpit's electronics, this one isn't amber. For me - It's not a problem because the different color looks cool. It appears to be neat.
It's worth noting that this module lacks the automatic down feature found on the factory switch (press the button all the way down, release the button, and the window continues to roll down). It's also worth noting that some people in this thread said the 'window lock' button sits flush with the switch housing, which I noticed before ordering. The 'window lock' button on my 2010 Silverado Ext LS sits at the same height as the factory switch once installed. Apart from the lack of an auto window down feature, I believe this item looks, functions, and fits exactly like the original switch. I'd suggest it.
After popping off the door handle trim, you'll need a 10mm socket to remove the door handle, then a slight pry with a flat screwdrive to pry the trim piece out with the switch, because there are tabs, you'll need to pop them out carefully without breaking them one at a time, slowly pry the tab back and install a tooth pick where all the tabs are on all four sides, then it'll be a walk in the park to remove press down 5 minutes or less switch If you want to avoid breaking the gray trim piece, be careful when removing it.
It also has the same feel as if it were made in China. It has a cheap feel to it, as well as a cheap appearance. well. It is, after all, inexpensive. It does, however, work. The lights are a different color than the factory switches, and the window lock button is almost flush rather than raised like the factory switches. However, I like it because I used to hit it by accident all the time, and I'm not expecting to do so any longer. In general, it is a low-cost alternative. It will suffice if you do not own a show truck.
UPDATE: Because of the reasons listed below, my original rating was four stars. I'm going to give it a one-star rating now. This switch has been in my truck for about 6 months and is no longer functional. The majority of that time was spent in the winter, when I didn't even open the windows. So I'm guessing I've only done about 200 up/down cycles. Don't buy it; it's a waste of money. Original review: br>br> This was purchased to replace a faulty switch in my 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. It was simple to put together and perfectly suited my needs. It functions normally, with the exception that it lacks the factory-installed auto-down feature for the front driver's side window. Although it isn't the end of the world, the seller fails to mention it in the product description. If I'd known that, I'm not sure I would have gotten this one. Aside from that, everything is fine.
Update: Because I've only had this for about two months and it stopped working yesterday, I changed my rating from five to one. Until yesterday, I was extremely pleased with the product. For a period of two months, it was not worth the time and effort. Now I have to go out and buy a new one. To install it, we had to take the door down once more. 😒.
The first one I ordered didn't work because it required far too much pressure to operate (the right rear button). That is to say, to get the window to move, I had to press the button about four times harder than usual. br>I ordered a replacement, but now the entire right side of the unit is out of commission.
