My husband sold it to me, so I don't know about the reason I bought it.

Can you tell me what color code this is?

It was not a case of color code in my case. It works just fine by plugging the switch into the connector tucked under the dashboard. To mount the switch, a hole had to be cut in the said dashboard panel.

Is this compatible with the Chevy Tahoe 2008?

That should be the case. The 2007 Yukon I owned used it. I love the way it fits and works.

It was there already, the wiring harness was in the truck. For this to fit in, I had only to drill a hole and file out a slot.
